Logistics Coordinator

What you will do

The focus of the Logistics Administrative Assistant position is to ensure that the inbound & outbound materials and resources flow through the company in a timely manner.  This individual will need to be very organized and detail-oriented as they provide support to a team of 6 logistics coordinators in areas such as:  creating shipping paperwork, monitoring unit tracking from production through to final delivery, preparing FedEx shipments, assistance with Canada/US customs documents and customs classifications.  Your love of communication, efficiency and task accomplishment while contributing to the overall goals of the logistics team to keep operations moving is required to ensure success.

How you will do it

  • Generating shipping paperwork for submitting to appropriate parties (drivers, carrier dispatch, US Customs)

  • Assisting with the Purchase Order process to monitor and close out Freight POs

  • Helping organize interplant transfers of parts and materials via Silent-Aire internal couriers.

  • Facilitating workflow for manufactured product between plants and storage locations

  • Monitoring the flow of materials or resources to ensure on time delivery.

  • Troubleshooting any problems to ensure projects or process remain on schedule.

  • Working with Logistics Team members to follow schedules for the delivery of products or resources.

  • Confirming that work process is continuing on schedule by monitoring communication and workflow between Production/Shipping/Logistics departments.

  • Working with contracted couriers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers; manages timing of deliveries and packing schedules.

  • Participating in the development and implementation of process improvement practices.

  • Ensuring that contracted couriers follow company policies and procedures when delivering products

  • Contributing to the strong working relationships with Internal and External customers.

What we look for

  • High school education and at least 5 years work experience, or a bachelor’s degree with  2+ years relevant work experience.

  • Courses in project management and/or training in scheduling and time management are an asset.

  • Good knowledge of transport industry and traffic.

  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.

  • Proficient knowledge in MS office.

  • Understanding of guidelines, direct response, and customer experience.

  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate and mange paperwork and electronic data

  • Must have the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Strong team player, proactive, and enthusiastic about obtaining great business results through creative project execution.

Working Conditions

  • Office, warehouse, and manufacturing plant floor environment.

  • Occasional travel to field worksite locations within the Edmonton area, will require Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
