Logistics Analyst I

The Trade Compliance, Customs & Logistics I, is responsible for participating in compliance activities related to international trade. This role involves assessing risks associated with Plexus customs operations, implementing compliance procedures and work instructions, and providing guidance to internal teams. To ensure the correct compliance with customs and tax regulations in import and/or export operations through the technical review (vetting/audit) of documents and the accurate determination of the customs value (Declaration of Value / Value Manifestation).
The analyst will also play a key role in optimizing processes and supporting audits to ensure compliance with trade regulations.

Key Job Accountabilities.

  • Prepare, review, and update the Value Manifestation for each import operation, ensuring the correct determination of the merchandise's customs value.

  • Conduct a comprehensive review (VETTING/GLOSA) of import and/or export customs entries (PEDIMENTOS), verifying the correct application of the Customs Law, its Regulations, the General Rules of Foreign Trade, and other applicable provisions.

  • Verify accurate calculation of duties and taxes (IGI, VAT, DTA, etc.), the application of non-tariff regulations and restrictions (RRNA), and compliance with import/export permits and countervailing duties.

  • Timely identify, document, and report any incidents or errors detected in the customs documents.

  • Collect and safeguard the supporting documentation for the Value Manifestation (commercial invoices, COVE, Pedimentos, etc.) in accordance with current valid legislation.

  • Stay updated on changes in customs and foreign trade regulations.

  • Provide internal advice on technical aspects, such as the Value Manifestation and/or COVE, DODA or other as applicable.

  • Collaborate in addressing requirements or audits by customs authorities, providing the necessary information and documentary support.

  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in trade operations.

  • Other needs as required by the logistics area.

Professional Education & Experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in trade compliance, customs audit, or customs documentation areas (preferably at a Customs Brokerage firm).

  • Strong understanding of international trade regulations, General Rules of Commerce, Customs Law, and Pedimentos fulfillment.

  • English, mid level. (At least, proven level B1)

Technical skills.

Practical experience in Customs Entry Vetting (GLOSA), handling and preparation of the Value Manifestation and its annex documentation, solid knowledge of the Customs Law and the legal framework applicable to foreign trade.

Google workspace usage; familiarity with trade compliance (Annex 24) and ERP software, advanced proficiency in trade compliance, specific knowledge of the IMMEX program, AEO SECIIT, and VAT certification.

Analytical skills for risk assessment and knowledge at PROSEC, USMCA and 8th Rule is preferred.

Soft skills.

Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, strong communication, ability to work in a team environment, problem-solving skills, and approach to process improvement.

  • Creation of Value Manifestation in time and manner for each import operation.

  • Manage record keeping related to Value Manifestation properly .

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with international trade laws and internal policies.

  • Develop a foundational understanding of applicable trade compliance to grow within the role.

  • Ensure effective management of trade compliance risks and successful implementation of procedures.

  • Enhance the efficiency of trade operations through process improvements.

  • Provide strong support in audit preparations and compliance initiatives.
