Overview of the role: 

 

The Live Events Tech Operations Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all IT and technology-related aspects of live events. This includes ensuring the smooth planning, setup, running, and troubleshooting of laptops, display screens, POS equipment, networks, and tournament software system across global events.  
 
Reporting to the Live Events Logistics Manager, this role will ensure all technical systems are reliable, efficient, and secure, while providing expert guidance to internal teams and suppliers. The Tech Operations Manager will play a critical role in maintaining operational excellence, supporting event delivery, and ensuring technology aligns with business and compliance requirements. 

 

This role involves a significant amount of travel and long, demanding days at events. The ideal candidate will be resilient, adaptable, and able to remain calm and effective under pressure in fast-paced, dynamic environments. 

This role follows a hybrid approach to working, allowing you to combine working from home with working in our modern offices. These discussions are between you and your manager to find the best pattern for you both, while recognising that quality time together is essential for keeping us mission-aligned.

What you’ll do: 

 

IT Systems & Infrastructure 

  • Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laptops, servers, and event-specific hardware. 

  • Ensure reliable and secure network infrastructure at all live events, including Wi-Fi, LAN, and VPN solutions. 

  • Manage the operation, updates, and performance of the PSLive system during events. 

  • Ensure that all IT equipment is respecting all Group’s IT policies, by liaising with all relevant departments (Infosec…). 

 

Technology Planning & Administration 

  • Plan and coordinate technical requirements for all live events in collaboration with Event Managers and Logistics Manager. 

  • Maintain an inventory of IT equipment, ensuring timely procurement, maintenance, and upgrades. 

  • Establish best practices for the setup and dismantling of IT systems at event venues. 

 

Supplier & Partner Management 

  • Manage relationships with IT service providers, equipment suppliers, and technical contractors. 

  • Negotiate contracts to ensure best value, service quality, and long-term reliability of technical partners. 

  • Oversee supplier performance, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and service standards. 

 

Compliance & Security 

  • Ensure all IT systems comply with regulatory, audit, and data protection standards. 

  • Implement and monitor cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive event and customer data. 

  • Ensure adherence to the Group’s Event Management and IT security policies. 

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Support 

  • Act as the key point of contact for Event Managers and internal stakeholders on all technology matters. 

  • Provide on-site support during live events, ensuring immediate resolution of technical issues. 

  • Deliver training and guidance to event staff on IT systems and processes. 

 

Innovation & Process Improvement 

  • Continuously review and improve IT processes to increase efficiency and reliability of live event technology. 

  • Explore and implement new tools, systems, and technologies to enhance customer experience and operational excellence. 

  • Drive standardisation and scalability of technical solutions across global events. 

 

What you’ll bring: 

 

  • Proven experience managing IT systems, networks, and infrastructure in live events or large-scale operations environments. 

  • Strong knowledge of hardware (laptops, servers) and network solutions (LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN). 

  • Experience managing complex software systems, ideally event management or registration platforms (PSLive preferred). 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure in live environments. 

  • Supplier/vendor management experience, including contract negotiation and oversight. 

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills. 

  • Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. 

  • Experience in the poker or gaming industry is advantageous. 

  • Familiarity with PokerStars internal processes and systems is a bonus. 

  • Knowledge of Oracle Financials, Confluence, Jira, or similar tools would be beneficial. 

  • Additional languages (spoken and written) are desirable.
