Foundation Academies seeks a Literacy Coach to strengthen instruction across grades 6–12 by supporting teachers in reading, discussion, and writing with grade-level texts. Are you an expert educator and mentor who takes a hands-on approach to coaching and elevating teacher practice? What will you be doing?

  • Provide individualized, job-embedded coaching to ELA and content-area teachers to strengthen reading, discussion, and writing instruction.
  • Model, co-teach, observe instruction, and provide actionable feedback.
  • Support teachers in designing and implementing reading, discussion, and writing tasks that improve student engagement and comprehension.
  • Strengthen Tier 1 literacy instruction and align Tier 2/3 interventions with classroom practice.
  • Analyze literacy data to identify priorities and guide instructional adjustments.
  • Collaborate with school leaders and teachers to implement professional development aligned with student needs and school goals.
  • Partner with principals, assistant principals, instructional coaches, and content teams to advance literacy priorities.
  • Maintain alignment with best practices and network initiatives to ensure coaching efforts result in measurable classroom impact.\

What do we require from you?

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Literacy, Reading, or Curriculum & Instruction preferred
  • NJ teaching certification in English or Reading Specialist endorsement
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of successful secondary ELA or literacy instruction
  • Demonstrated expertise in reading comprehension, writing across genres, and academic discourse
  • Experience coaching adult learners through modeling, feedback, and data-informed practice
  • Strong collaboration, communication, organization, and follow-through skills
  • Commitment to the mission of preparing all scholars for college and creating an anti-discriminatory, inclusive learning environment
