Title: Light Maintenance Technician 

Location: Eddyville, IA 

Wage: $24.69 - $27.29 per hour, depending on experience level determined

during interview process
Hours: Tuesday - Friday 6:00am-4:30pm

What Will I Be Doing?  

 

The Pilot Plant and Facilities Support Technician is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and operational readiness across laboratory, pilot plant, and R&D building spaces. This role provides hands-on support for laboratory and pilot-scale activities while also ensuring that offices and common areas are clean, stocked, and well-maintained, supporting a safe, organized, and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory & Pilot Plant Support

  • Assemble, disassemble, clean, and sanitize glassware, bottle assemblies, and reusable containers used for laboratory and pilot trials.
  • Operate autoclaves to sterilize laboratory glassware, media bottles, and other applicable equipment.
  • Treat and properly dispose of biological waste generated in laboratory and pilot plant areas.
  • Prepare culture media and media plates for microbiological testing as required.
  • Prepare laboratory stock solutions and other preparations as needed.
  • Perform routine sanitation of laboratory and pilot-scale areas, including cleaning work surfaces and equipment.
  • Provide post-trial cleanup support for pilot plant tools and infrastructure.
  • Assist with organizing, stocking, and maintaining laboratory supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Facilities & Janitorial Support (R&D Building)

  • Clean and sanitize surfaces and restock supplies in restrooms and breakrooms.
  • Remove general trash from offices, restrooms, control rooms, breakrooms, conference rooms, laboratory spaces, and other designated areas.
  • Sweep and mop tiled flooring in office corridors, control rooms, breakrooms, main laboratories, and other applicable areas.
  • Vacuum carpeted office spaces.
  • Sweep and wash down pilot plant floors on a regular basis.
  • Maintain overall cleanliness, hygiene, and a professional appearance throughout the R&D facility.

  • Substantial lifting (up to 50 pounds) is required  

  • Ability to move for extended or continuous periods of time  

  • Ability to ascend and descend staircases, ladders, and/or step stools  

  • Ability to operate applicable hand tools, power tools, and equipment  

  • Ability to operate forklifts or other vehicles in a safe manner   

  • Ability to wear a respirator while performing job duties 

  • Communication/ Expression —The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.  

  • Information Ordering — The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).

The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.


The compensation for the position is: $23.20 - $27.29
