Why this role?
A Grade 2 Lift Competent Person (OYB Lift) role ensures the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of lifts, escalators, and moving walkways through inspections, supervision, and regulatory adherence.
What will you be doing?
- Carry out at least sixty (60) thorough Initial or Periodic inspections each year.
- Perform duties as stipulated under Regulation (6)(2)(h) of the Occupational Safety and Health (Machinery Requiring Certificate of Fitness) Regulations.
- Must attend together with an Officer or Licensed Person during Periodic Inspections or other inspections as stated in Regulation (6) of the Occupational Safety and Health (Machinery Requiring Certificate of Fitness) Regulations.
- Responsible for ensuring that the installation of lifts, escalators, or moving walkways complies with the design verification of lifting machinery reviewed by the Department.
- Ensure the safety and health of the approved company’s employees and others during the inspection, testing, and maintenance of lifts, escalators, and moving walkways under his supervision.
- Supervise Grade 3 Lift Competent Persons (OYB Lift) in the company where he works.
- Notify the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) or a Grade 1 Lift Competent Person (OYB Lift) in the company where he works of any accidents or incidents involving lifts, escalators, and moving walkways under his supervision.
Are you the one?
- Qualified as Grade II Lift Competent Person (OYB Lift).
- MQA-certified degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering.
- Strong technical knowledge of lift and escalator systems.
- Familiar with OSHA, EN Codes, and safety standards.
- Safety-focused, able to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Experience with MYKKP/MYSKUD systems (PTI, PEMULA, PEKALA, Taking Over).
- Good working relationship with JKKP officers is a plus.
