What you will do:

We are seeking a certified and experienced Backflow Inspector to join our team. This role is responsible for inspecting, testing, and certifying backflow prevention. The ideal candidate will hold a valid Illinois CCCDI certification and be a licensed plumber.

How you will do it:

  • Conduct inspections and testing of backflow prevention devices (RPZ, DCVA, RPDA, etc.) at commercial and industrial sites.
  • Perform cross-connection surveys and ensure compliance with Illinois Plumbing Code (77 Ill. Adm. Code 890).
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and certifications in accordance with IEPA requirements.
  • Communicate findings and corrective actions to commercial and industrial sites.
  • Stay current with updates to IEPA and IDPH regulations and USC–FCCHR testing standards.

What we look for:

  • Valid Illinois Plumbing License.
  • Certified Cross-Connection Control Device Inspector (CCCDI) through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA).
  • Completion of a 40-hour CCCDI training course from an IEPA-approved provider (e.g., SIUE Environmental Resources Training Center).
  • Must obtain an Illinois Perc card
  • Familiarity with USC–FCCHR 10th Edition testing procedures.
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing systems and water safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in digital inspection tools and asset management systems.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $36.59 - 45.72 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
