Working closely with the team Manager and the broader Legal Team, the purpose of this role is to provide advice and manage litigation in the PIC efficiently and effectively, to support the Business Unit operational teams with complex matters, and to provide advice in s151Z recovery claims. Working as part of a IfNSW Business Unit, this role will be responsible for ensuring EML performance targets and organisational objectives are met while providing a high level of service delivery to our stakeholders

This will be a full-time, 12-month Contract position based in the Sydney office, with flexibility to work from home.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing and oversight of all IfNSW statutory litigation including all relevant authorization processes, referral of instructions to the legal panel, claims management actions, evidence requests, attending teleconferences and hearings, providing instructions and reporting outcomes.
  • Provide sound advice on legislative, regulatory, legal, policy and guideline requirements affecting workers’ compensation claims to enable sound, evidence-based and legally accurate decision making.
  • Managing, assisting, and reviewing legal advice including s151Z recovery litigation and litigated statutory workers’ compensation claims.
  • Oversight of all legal referrals and advices (including general strategy advice and recovery)
  • Review of and responding to legal mail as necessary
  • Keeping up to date with case law and precedents affecting claims, premium and the scheme.
  • Providing practical technical advice about strategic management, both generally and in relation to specific claims.

ABOUT YOU

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role with strong claims management experience including litigation, working within a personal injury environment.
  • Excellent understanding of the Workers compensation legislation and the associated regulations (pre and post 2012 legislative amendments).
  • Applicable tertiary legal qualifications.
  • Admission and legal practice experience highly regarded.
