THE ROLE:
We have an exciting opportunity for a lawyer to join our highly effective team in Calgary, AB for a one-year term. This role offers an opportunity to work within a collaborative and fast-paced environment, providing strategic and practical legal advice in support of the company’s activities across the energy value chain.HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:
Manage key legal files involving a range of subjects, including employment, regulatory, privacy, occupational health and safety and procurement legal matters within the operating area of the company (Alberta and British Columbia).
Support and conduct whistleblower, employment and occupational health and safety investigations, as required.
Support policy and governance updates, as required.
Be an engaged and collaborative member of the Canadian Legal team, demonstrating versatility and a willingness to contribute across a range of practice areas.
WHAT YOU BRING:
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or a Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience.
Working knowledge of the upstream energy industry to provide credible advice and support to client groups, an asset.
Strong relationship building skills to become a trusted advisor for various business groups with different needs, timelines and levels of legal sophistication.
Strong working knowledge of regulatory, occupational health and safety and employment law matters.
Agile and creative mindset to deliver timely, practical, and fit for purpose solutions across regional groups and time zones.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to express legal concepts clearly and persuasively for Canadian and global teams.
Experience as in-house counsel would be preferred.
