Our Asia Pacific Investments business has a large, dedicated and highly experienced investment team which has been investing across the region since 1985, and manages all our Asian products, including regional, country, smaller companies, and sustainable investing propositions.

The team has a strong regional footprint with offices in Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul, and Sydney. This breadth gives us close proximity to the companies we own and the markets we invest in. Our APAC operations have been based in Singapore since 1992. We invest in Asian companies to grow with them and to help them to become better investors

This role, reporting to the Head of Legal – Asia Pacific, will be responsible for supporting Aberdeen’s business in Thailand. The purpose of the Aberdeen Legal team is to work closely with the business to deliver high quality legal service to Aberdeen in an efficient and effective manner, including investigating and implementing technological and/or self-service solutions as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report to and work closely with the Head of Legal, Asia-Pacific to provide legal support for the business activities in Aberdeen Thailand
  • Primary legal contact for (i) consideration and review of legal issues arising from business activities and projects, and (ii) escalate/resolve issues identified with internal stakeholders and where necessary and appropriate, external legal advisers.
  • Draft, review and negotiate (i) fund documentation, (ii) all agreements relate to, Aberdeen Thailand
  • Managing disputes/litigation
  • Managing external counsels when required
  • Collaborate with the wider Legal team globally on group-wide initiatives
  • To provide corporate secretarial support and corporate governance matters

Skills and experience

  • Degree in Law, and a qualified lawyer in Thailand with at least 10 years’ PQE
  • Knowledge and experience in asset management, knowledge of Thai SEC regulations pertaining to mutual, private and provident funds
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of risk management
  • Strong command of English and Thai (spoken and written)
  • Able to adapt with organization changes
