Job Description & Responsibilities

Blackstone is seeking a 6+ years PQE transactions/corporate lawyer to provide support to its businesses based in Singapore.  The work will be transactional in nature, covering the private equity, real estate and tactical opportunities businesses, across Singapore and Southeast Asia.  In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing complex corporate transactions for Blackstone’s funds and portfolio companies, including public and private mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures and minority equity investments. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of navigating the intricacies of corporate law and regulatory regimes, in a fast-paced, global environment, providing expert advice and support to our investment teams and portfolio companies.

Private Equity, Real Estate and Tactical Opportunities

  • Review and negotiate transaction and financing documentation

  • Advise on transaction-related legal, structuring and regulatory matters and ensure ongoing compliance with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., antitrust, foreign direct investment, financial regulatory, securities laws)

  • Liaise with finance, operations, tax, fund and compliance teams on a variety of matters throughout the investment cycle from diligence through closing, ongoing asset management activities and exit

  • Supervise and coordinate with external counsel on transactions

  • Coordinate the legal due diligence process

  • Provide input to investment committee materials and manage transaction approval processes

  • Coordinate with portfolio operations, public affairs, government relations and sustainability teams on critical and sensitive issues across the Blackstone portfolio

  • Collaborate with portfolio companies to provide guidance on corporate governance, regulatory matters, risk management strategies, and compliance best practices

  • Monitor and analyze regulatory developments and industry trends, including corporate governance, securities law, and market practice

General Corporate

  • Assist with general corporate matters related to Blackstone’s business in Singapore

Qualifications

Based in Singapore, the lawyer will support Blackstone Singapore as part of the legal & compliance team across Asia-Pacific. This is an exciting role for a bright, ambitious and hard-working individual to work on marquee transactions.

Ideally, the individual would possess the following skills:

  • 6-10 years of legal experience with a top tier international law firm, with a focus on private equity (candidates with relevant experience from private funds will also be considered)

  • Demonstrated experience working on/leading complex and cross‑border corporate transactions

  • Comprehensive understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape affecting private equity and portfolio companies

  • Strong judgement and excellent negotiation, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong strategic thinking skills, ability to work independently and proactively, and to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • US or UK/Singapore/equivalent common law degree required

  • Fluent English required; additional Asian languages a plus but not required

  • International experience preferred
