What are you accountable for?
- Legal support & advisory to business divisions within the Maxis group to facilitate contracts and dealings with third parties.
- Collaborate with various departments within the Maxis group especially the consumer business and sales & services, teams to understand their requirements and concerns with a view to provide legal advisory and support – this will facilitate the operations of the Maxis group while ensuring compliance
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts e.g. partnership and collaboration agreements with retail service providers, merchants, distributors, resellers, dealers etc.
- Draft and review customer’s terms and conditions on retail product and services
- Provide legal advice on business operations relating to compliance such as areas involving the Consumer Protection Act 1999, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 and the Personal Data Protection Act 2010
- Where required to interface, liaise and coordinate between Maxis group stakeholders and external counsel.
- Ensure Maxis’ interests are protected while complying with laws and regulations when undertaking assigned duties and tasks.
- Balance legal issues against commercial requirements in the performance of assigned duties and tasks. Rendering pragmatic legal advice while ensuring legal compliance and Maxis’ interests are protected
- Advice must be practical while ensuring Maxis’ interests are protected and compliance with law observed
What do you need to have for this role?
- Degree in Law (LLB)
- Minimum 15 years’ experience post being called to the Bar with at least 3 years in a private practice with a leading law firm
- Able to work independently
- Positive, passionate, collaborative
- Thrives in a challenging and dynamic environment
- Enjoys learning new things, meeting new people and working with diverse range of internal stakeholders.
- Critical thinking and good problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication, inter-personal and negotiation skills when dealing with counter-parties to a transaction as well as internal stakeholders.
