About the Role:
Flinders University’s College of Science and Engineering is seeking an enthusiastic and accomplished academic to join our team as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Restoration Ecology. This teaching and research position plays a key role in delivering high-quality, student-centred education across our natural science programs, while advancing impactful research in restoration ecology and aligned ecological disciplines.
In this position, you will also:
Design, coordination, and delivery of engaging undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, with a focus on restoration ecology, plant ecology (including native or invasive species), ecological genomics, global ecology, or other areas of existing strength within the College
Conduct high-quality research that aligns with the College’s areas of strength, demonstrated through scholarship, quality publications, and external grant acquisition.
Supervise Honours and HDR students and contribute to a vibrant research culture.
Contribute to internal and external accreditation, quality assurance processes, and College leadership activities.
This position is open to international and interstate candidates. Visa and relocation support is available.
About You:
You are a motivated, collaborative, and forward-thinking academic who brings expertise in restoration ecology, plant ecology, ecological genomics or global ecology. You thrive in multidisciplinary environments and enjoy leading teaching and research initiatives that support student success, build strong partnerships, and contribute to positive real-world impact.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification in restoration ecology or a closely related discipline.
Evidence of successful, high-quality teaching at the tertiary level, including curriculum design, topic coordination, and delivery of both introductory and advanced ecology topics.
A strong research track record (relative to career stage) in restoration ecology, demonstrated through high-quality publications, external funding success, and industry or community collaboration.
For Level C: Demonstrated leadership in teaching and/or research at a national or international level (e.g., course coordination, major grants, significant research programs, accreditation activities, or industry partnerships).
