The Allied Health Sciences Program, within Grand Valley State University’s School of Interdisciplinary Health, invites applications for an Assistant Professor position. This position is a 9-month, full-time, tenure-stream faculty position that begins August 6, 2026. Educational and experience requirements include a doctorate in a discipline pertinent to the Allied Health Sciences Program; a minimum of 5 years sufficient work experience in a health-related discipline; a minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience in a health-related discipline; relevant knowledge and/or experience in healthcare ethics, legal studies, advanced healthcare research and innovation; advising; and evidence of strong commitment to inclusive teaching practices. This position will support the Allied Health Sciences Program, School of Interdisciplinary Health, and College of Health Professions.

Position Title:  Assistant Faculty–Allied Health Sciences; 9-month contract

 

Summary: The Allied Health Sciences Program, within Grand Valley State University’s School of Interdisciplinary Health, invites applications for a 9-month, full-time tenure-stream position. This Assistant Professor position is a 9-month full-time position with 24-credit workload per academic year and includes service and scholarship requirements. This position will support the Allied Health Sciences program, School of Interdisciplinary Health, and the College of Health Professions, beginning on August 6, 2026.

 

Required Qualifications and Education:

·         Doctorate in a discipline pertinent to the Allied Health Sciences program.

·         Minimum of 5 years of sufficient work experience in a health-related discipline that provides the knowledge to teach multiple Allied Health Sciences program courses and support the program related to advanced healthcare research and innovation.

·         Minimum of 3 years of full-time college-level teaching experience in a health-related discipline in multiple modalities, including but not limited to in-person, hybrid, and online formats.

·         Commitment to inclusion, equity, diversity, and accessibility in order to provide inclusive learning experiences to a diverse student population

·         Excellent communication, organizational, and self-leadership skills

 

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

·         Experience in teaching Allied Health Sciences or related university coursework in in-person, hybrid, and online formats simultaneously, especially courses related to healthcare ethics, legality, and research

·         Experience in mentoring or advising undergraduate students

·         Experience in utilizing inclusive practices in courses

·         Experience with advanced practice or innovative technology in healthcare settings

·         Strong research agenda, including but not limited to, a PhD and/or experience with student involvement in research

 

Responsibilities – Essential Functions:

·         Provide teaching instruction for courses in the Allied Health Sciences program in multiple modalities each semester

·         Serve as lead instructor for select Allied Health Sciences coursework which consists of course design, mentoring adjuncts, and other faculty teaching the course, and any other activities that support curriculum

·         Academic advising for students in the Allied Health Sciences program

·         Participate in Allied Health Sciences program development, special projects, and innovation

·         Participate in service to iniatives within the School of Interdisciplinary Health

·         Participate in service to the College of Health Professions and the university, including but not limited to service on committees and engaging in healthcare and/or academic innovation

·         Engage and develop research and a scholarly agenda consistent with the research expectations within the College of Health Professions and the university at-large.

 

Salary:  Commensurate with experience

 

Department/Division:  Allied Health Science program within the School of Interdisciplinary Health and the College of Health Professions.

 

Campus: Primarily at the City-Health Campus with some work at the Valley campus in Allendale.
