How will you make an impact?-
The Learning & Development (L&D) Supervisor leads site‑level training and onboarding of Indirect Labor (IL) and Direct Labor (DL) employees to strengthen workforce capability, skill development, and readiness in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for building, evolving, and improving training approaches that support technical skill development and skills matrices across the site.
The L&D Supervisor leads a small team of Training Support Specialists, translates site priorities into practical and scalable learning solutions, and partners with a focused set of functional key leaders to bring clarity and consistency to skills expectations, development pathways, and training execution.
What will you do? -
Partner with key functional leaders (Operations, Quality, Engineering) to understand critical skill needs and align training solutions to site priorities for IL and DL roles.
Coach and support Training Specialists to deliver consistent, high‑quality onboarding and skills development experiences.
Use training data, feedback, and outcomes to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities across IL and DL training programs.
Provide clear direction, reinforce expectations, and foster accountability within the training team.
Business Strategy & Operational Support
Support site people, safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives through effective training, onboarding, and skills development for IL and DL populations.
Translate site and functional priorities into actionable training plans and learning solutions.
Provide routine visibility to leaders on onboarding progress, training completion, qualifications, and skills coverage through reporting.
Technical & Functional Leadership
Lead IL and DL onboarding and ongoing skills development, ensuring role expectations and skill progression are clearly defined and supported.
Develop, update, and maintain skills matrices in partnership with functional leaders to support development and workforce readiness.
Ensure consistent delivery of new‑hire orientation, role‑based onboarding, and required technical, safety, and compliance training.
Evaluate training effectiveness using metrics, skills data, and feedback, and continuously improve training approaches.
Ensure training procedures, work instructions, and documentation are current, efficient, and audit‑ready.
Identify and implement improved tools, methods, or processes that enhance learning effectiveness and scalability.
Compliance & Governance
Support internal and external audits related to training and ensure required training documentation and records are accurately maintained.
How will you get here? –
Education:
Minimum High School diploma, is required
A combination of eduction, training and relevant experience will be considered
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting, coordinating, delivering, or overseeing training, learning and development, or workforce skill development programs in a manufacturing or operations environment is required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to lead people, influence without authority, and hold others accountable.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and training systems or databases.
Experience using a learning management system, with Workday Learning or Workday HCM strongly preferred.
Knowledge of adult learning principles and hands‑on, shop‑floor training methods.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Training, Organizational Development, or a related field is a plus
Prior experience supervising or leading a small team of trainers or facilitators
Experience establishing, improving, or standardizing onboarding and training programs
Hands‑on experience managing skills matrices, certification tracking, and training needs analysis processes
Experience partnering with cross‑functional leaders in a manufacturing or operations environment
