The Leadhand Trouble Response Powerline Technician is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable and efficient inspection, troubleshooting, repair and restoration of electrical distribution infrastructure. This role plays a critical part in maintaining system reliability and responding to operational issues, while ensuring all work is completed in accordance with ENMAX safety standards, regulatory requirements and established work procedures.
Responsibilities:
Works alone under the general supervision of the Trouble Response Coordinator. Duties are as follows:
Adhere to the Province of Alberta, ENMAX Corporation, A.E.U.C. (Alberta Electrical Utility Code) and Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations.
Ensure proper care and use of vehicles, equipment and work sites.
Assume Trouble Response and Inspections, repair and replacement duties as required.
Participate in the establishment of safety policies and work procedures, ensure adherence to policy and procedures and take corrective action where required.
Assess and arrange necessary crew(s) for repair and replacement of plant.
Instruct, train and assign work to apprentices, trade persons and related workers.
Must be willing and able to work Day, Afternoon, Nights and Weekend Trouble shifts.

Qualifications & Experience:
Must meet ENMAX Corporation’s requirements as to qualifications and/or must be qualified under the Alberta Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act with respect to the related electrical trade
Must have a proven safety record and thorough knowledge of Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Work Practices (SWPs)
Must have a valid Province of Alberta driver’s license, minimum Class 3 with Q endorsement.
Must have a Red Seal and/or Alberta Journeyperson Powerline Technician Certification.
Must have worked as a Journeyperson Powerline Technician for twenty-four (24) months within the last 5 years including live line rubber glove work.
Must have a good working knowledge of overhead and underground construction and troubleshooting experience.
Must receive a passing grade on the URD cable isolation written exam. Passing mark is 75%.
Familiar with all computer programs and applications required in the day to day activities of Trouble Response.
Preference will be given to candidates with previous Trouble Response experience.
Must be willing to upgrade qualifications as required.

Salary: $73.67 per hour (2026 Collective Agreement rates)
