Overview

Responsible for providing the day-to-day direction to material handlers and warehouse coordinators, supports the supervisor in maintaining inventory accuracy, coordinating timely and accurate material deliveries and maintaining a clean and safe workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates the activities of the warehouse department and the alignment of personnel to ensure timely movement of material through Receiving, Operations, Finished Products and Shipment.
  • Monitors the sales orders to be shipped throughout each day to ensure customer orders are completed promptly, assists in the packing/reviewing of all goods to ensure quality processing prior to shipment and maintains good working knowledge of shipping and packaging procedures and policies.
  • Monitors performance and attendance of warehouse personnel and communicates to supervisor.
  • Maintains the Material Charge Out Form (MCOF) process (a means of moving inventory without the use of a purchase order, work order or sales order) to accommodate requests necessary to support daily operations.
  • Monitors processes on a regular basis to ensure compliance with ISO standards and procedures. Reports discrepancies to Supervisor and works to implement any changes necessary to bring processes into compliance.
  • Monitors safety procedures to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental rules, and that any Safety Committee audit issues are resolved promptly as well as ensures the practice of good housekeeping in the warehouse, shipping area and outside areas.
  • Assists the Supervisor in leading projects related to problem solving and making improvements to safety, quality, flow and efficiency.
  • Monitors and ensures that purchase documentation and relevant receiving inspection documentation as well as all internal maintained parts and documentation are received, stored and delivered in accordance with company procedures.
  • Responsible for training and coordinating training for all members of the warehouse team as well as having the capability of performing those roles whenever needed.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of forklift operation.
  • 3-5 years of stand-up, reach forklift
  • 3-5 years of material handling in manufacturing environment
  • 3-5 years in a shipping/receiving environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Attention to detail and organization.
  • Problem solving and resolution.
  • Can lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of standing or walking throughout the shift.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and squatting to pick up items or load/unload products.
  • Reaching overhead or across distances to grab items.
  • Maneuvering equipment such as carts, pallet jacks, or forklifts.
  • Using ladders or step stools to access higher shelves.
  • Repetitive use of hands and arms for picking, packing, or sorting items.
  • Potential use of warehouse machinery such as forklifts or cranes, which may require training and certification.
  • Visual acuity for reading labels, scanners, or displays, as well as ensuring safety.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to sustain physical effort for the duration of shifts, which can be long, especially during peak periods.
