As a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Layout Lead at Micron Technology, Inc., you will guide and support PCB layout designers in developing complex, high-performance printed circuit boards. We seek a dynamic and motivated technical leader with a strong background in PCB design who can help establish, apply, and maintain layout standards and workflows for the team.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of high-speed design, signal integrity, and power delivery techniques. This role requires close collaboration with multiple designers, engineers, and external fabrication and manufacturing partners to ensure efficient design outcomes. You will assist designers at all experience levels in resolving design challenges and will contribute to the successful development of complex PCB designs. This is a full-time, on-site position in Boise Idaho, relocation is required if outside the Boise area.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Support

  • Provide technical leadership and supervision for the High‑Volume Manufacturing (HVM) PCB layout team
  • Support performance management, mentoring, and development of team members
  • Drive a culture of quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the layout team
  • Establish, apply, and uphold PCB layout and documentation standards
  • Define and enforce best‑practice build and documentation guidelines
  • Find opportunities for system, tool, and process improvements and lead implementation efforts

Technical Execution

  • Assist PCB designers in producing high‑quality layouts using Siemens Xpedition build and verification tools
  • Create and/or modify PCB schematics as needed
  • Establish and apply design‑for‑manufacturability (DFM) and design‑for‑assembly (DFA) guidelines
  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive technical feedback
  • Resolve PCB design issues in collaboration with fabrication and manufacturing vendors

Multi-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with design engineers to translate electrical requirements into robust physical designs
  • Support external manufacturing and assembly efforts as required
  • Plan and manage schedules to meet project achievements and delivery commitments
  • Stay current with industry trends, advanced PCB layout techniques, and evolving manufacturing processes

Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in manual and interactive component placement and routing
  • In‑depth knowledge of signal integrity and power distribution layout techniques
  • Advanced understanding of PCB manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with electronic schematic symbols and reference designation standards
  • Knowledge of PCB layout standards and industry guidelines
  • Ability to interpret component datasheets, schematics, and specifications documentation to ensure compliance with layout requirements

Professional Skills

  • Outstanding attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and precision
  • Self‑motivated great teammate with the flexibility to adapt to changing workloads and priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office tools

Education

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Field of study in PCB development, electronics, or a related subject area
  • IPC Designer Certification (CID or CID+) preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of hands‑on PCB layout experience
  • 7+ years experience leading or managing technical teams
  • Experience with Siemens Xpedition PCB/CAD software is preferred
  • Experience with Siemens Teamcenter and electronic data management (EDM) systems is valued
