About Target’s Merchandising Operations Team
Merchandising Operations exists to be Target’s center of excellence for merchandising
execution. We bring merchandising strategy to life through flawless execution, predictable
outcomes, and operational rigor -enabling our buyers to focus on trends, strategy, and the
guest.
The team delivers best-in-class operational solutions across the merchandising ecosystem,
including vendor onboarding and learning, supplier performance assessment, compliance, and
reliability. By strengthening both vendor-facing and buyer-facing operations, Merch Ops ensures
clarity, consistency, and scale while elevating the vendor experience and supporting strong
business outcomes.

Target’s growth. This team plays a critical role in shaping new ways of working and raising the
bar for how merchandising execution happens at Target.
Lead Merch Specialist, Merchandising Operations (L3)
Target is building a modern Merchandising Operations organization designed to turn
merchandising strategy into flawless execution at scale. As a Lead Merch Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in supporting our buying teams by ensuring operational excellence, resolving
complex exceptions, and improving day-to-day merchandising processes.
In this role, you’ll independently manage moderately complex operational workflows, respond
to store and distribution center inquiries, and serve as a first line of quality review for execution
teams. You’ll identify trends, surface risks, and partner with leaders to prevent repeat issues
while helping pilot process improvements that drive efficiency, accuracy, and reliability.
This is an opportunity to make a visible impact -supporting buyers, strengthening vendor and
store experiences, and helping shape how merchandising operations work at Target.
Key Responsibilities
Execute and support core merchandising operations workflows with accuracy and
timeliness
Resolve operational exceptions and respond to store/DC inquiries; escalate when
needed
Perform quality reviews and coach peers on process and execution standards
Track and analyze issues, trends, and risks; support reporting and insights
Partner with leaders to improve processes, tools, and ways of working
Job Requirements
Graduate with 2-3 years' experience or MBA with 0 to 2 yrs. of experience in operations,
retail support, or merchandising.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in excel and good knowledge of other MS Office tools like Outlook,
PowerPoint and Excel
Clear communicator who can collaborate across teams
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Exposure to quality review, exception management, or process improvement
