Job Summary:
Location: Methodist Estabrook Cancer CenterResponsibilities:
Assesses/implements procedures and protocols for accurate radiation therapy delivery and care by the radiation therapists as prescribed by the physician (85%)
Routinely reviews setup methodology for accurate treatment delivery as prescribed by the MD and ensures routine quality assurance practices by the radiation therapists.
Encourages proactive review of treatment information in the chart to minimize delay of treatment delivery to the patient.
Communicates all treatment errors and patient injuries to physician and physics staff as soon as discovered.
Makes appropriate decisions based on gathered facts and demonstrates an advanced level of clinical skills and abilities in resolving complicated treatment issues.
Exemplifies and encourages teamwork, respect and effective communication skills (5%)
Facilitates communication dialogue of the therapist to, and about patients, with involved individuals to minimize miscommunications.
Encourages display of respect from the radiation therapists with others through attentive listening displayed by direct eye contact and body language.
Monitors the interaction of radiation therapists with patients and others for demonstrative courtesy and professionalism.
Demonstrates appropriate understanding and support of billing practices (2.5%)
Ensures timely charge entry into Aria and Cerner daily.
Reviews charge entry reports.
Reviews and creates policies to govern expected charging practices according to most recent guidelines.
Coordinates clinical scheduling and addresses related concerns for the radiation therapists (2.5%)
Prepares work schedules for radiation therapists to maximize the clinic efficiency.
Prioritizes tasks daily for the radiation therapists to adapt to the demands of the clinical schedule.
Implements dynamic and flexible scheduling measures to ensure expected productivity with the radiation therapist.
Adheres to departmental policies and procedures (2.5%)
Attends mandatory in-services and continuing education programs as mandated by policies and procedures.
Provides appropriate care to the patient to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment as outlined in the "Age Specific Criteria".
Issues work effort feedback in a timely and appropriate manner (2.5%)
Communicates appropriate comments to the therapists and co-workers, which foster better working relationships.
Openly and consistently rewards and recognizes co-workers for job performance.
Addresses concerns with co-workers immediately and directly for the purpose of improved working relationships.
Responsible to initiate the call back system for Code Triage events or drills.

Job Description:
Education
Bachelor's of Science obtained through an approved Radiation Therapy certification program required.
Satisfactory completion of annual mandatory education requirement.
Experience
6 months of Radiation Therapist experience required.
License/Certifications
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiography (R) required.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiation Therapy (T) required.
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills necessary to provide service excellence through verbal and written communication.
