POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead, Quality Assurance (AI Strategy & Execution) is responsible for operationalizing and evolving Quality Assurance across Cogeco’s AI squads. In this role, you will take a high-level AI QA strategy provided by leadership and lead its rollout across multiple squads, serving as the bridge between strategic vision and technical reality.

You will work directly with AI squads to provide hands-on guidance, ensuring that applications meet Cogeco’s standards for accuracy, safety, and performance. This role requires a blend of traditional QA rigorousness and AI testing innovation. You will follow the established roadmap while proactively identifying and implementing refinements as the AI landscape evolves.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategy Implementation & Refinement: Execute the high-level AI QA strategy across all squads. Monitor effectiveness in real-time and make necessary adjustments or refinements to the methodology as needed.

  • Cross-Squad Guidance & Hands-on Support: Provide direct, hands-on support to multiple AI squads, ensuring they correctly implement testing frameworks for LLMs, predictive models, and data pipelines.

  • Automation & CI/CD Integration: Collaborate closely with the QA Automation Expert to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines. Ensure that automated gates handle both deterministic traditional logic and probabilistic AI outputs (e.g., model drift, prompt regression).

  • Hybrid QA Excellence: Maintain foundational QA standards (test case management, bug governance, and traceability) while adapting them to work within fast-moving, non-deterministic AI workstreams.

  • Trend Analysis & Risk Mitigation: Review testing outputs to identify systemic trends or risks unique to AI deployments, such as data quality issues, infrastructure bottlenecks, or environment-specific escapes.

  • Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the technical liaison between squads and Product Owners, ensuring that QA coverage remains aligned with the product roadmap and business goals.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Academic Training

  • College diploma in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline or combination of equivalent education and work experience required.

  • Training or certification in Quality Assurance and AI/Machine Learning fundamentals is a significant asset.

Work Experience & Technical Skills

  • 5+ years in Quality Assurance or a similar technical field.

  • 3+ years leading QA deliverables within Agile/DevOps environments.

  • Proven AI/ML Testing Experience: Familiarity with testing AI-driven applications, model evaluation metrics, and data validation.

  • CI/CD & Automation: Experience integrating automated test suites into modern pipelines and collaborating with automation specialists to build scalable frameworks.

  • Leadership by Influence: Demonstrated ability to drive results across multiple squads in an individual contributor capacity.

  • Prioritization: Expert at managing a diverse range of QA deliverables and prioritizing them effectively among conflicting deadlines.

  • Deep-Dive Problem Solving: Comfortable "getting into the code" or the data to help squads resolve complex testing blockers and identify root causes.

  • Operational Discipline: High degree of organization and personal accountability; able to manage various scopes of QA deliverables independently.

  • Proactive Initiative: Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative in identifying and resolving problems independently.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document complex AI testing processes clearly. (French skills are an asset).

  • Influence & Motivation: Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to motivate squads and provide leadership and direction without hierarchy.
