As a Lead Program Manager – Energy Strategy & Portfolio Optimization on our Energy team, you will lead enterprise energy rate strategy and spend optimization across Target’s
~$800M annual energy portfolio. This role will report directly to the Head of Enterprise Energy & Sustainability and would be accountable for leading, defining and advancing enterprise energy strategy, establishing governance frameworks, and driving disciplined financial and operational performance. You will develop data-driven business cases and executive-ready \recommendations that align energy procurement strategy, resiliency investments, and utility partnerships with Target’s sustainability commitments, risk management priorities, and expense optimization objectives. This includes oversight of key external relationships and associated contractual frameworks.
You will also lead the evolution of our Strategic Utility Partner initiatives (Target Power Partners), strengthening engagement models, formalizing communication routines, and
advancing innovation strategies that deliver measurable operational and financial outcomes. This includes influencing utility stakeholders, aligning on grid modernization and electrification efforts, and enhancing resiliency-focused collaboration. In addition, you will shape the long-range plan (LRP) roadmap for onsite storage and distributed energy capabilities. This includes evaluating storage economics, defining enterprise resiliency value propositions, and partnering cross-functionally to establish scalable deployment pathways. This role partners closely with Finance, Procurement, Legal, Construction, Corporate
Responsibility, Communications, and Property Management leadership, as well as external utilities, suppliers, and energy market partners.

About you:
Bachelor’s degree, BA/BS (MBA preferred)
Minimum 7 years overall business experience
Experience in energy markets, utilities, procurement support, corporate energy management, or related strategic finance roles
Demonstrated financial acumen, including experience with rate analysis, commodity strategy, or large operating expense analytics
Experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership
Proven ability to develop and implement multi-year strategic roadmaps
Demonstrated history of managing external partners and complex negotiations
Strong analytical, financial, reasoning, and organizational skills
Ability to translate complex market and regulatory information into clear executive-ready narratives
Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
Practical approach to problem solving with the ability to lead through change
Ability to operate strategically while driving disciplined execution
