This is a senior technical leadership role focused on execution excellence. As Lead Modern Workplace Engineer, you will lead Intune operations, application packaging, and automation initiatives, ensuring the modern endpoint service runs reliably, securely, and at scale. You will work closely with Workplace Architects, translating architectural strategy into robust, automated, and operationally sound solutions.
This role is ideal for a senior EUC professional who enjoys hands-on leadership, operational ownership, and continuous improvement, while partnering with architects rather than owning the platform roadmap.
You will be the go-to operational authority for Intune and application packaging, driving modernization initiatives that improve stability, scalability, security, and user experience.
What You’ll Lead:
Operational leadership of the Intune-based endpoint service, from day-to-day execution to continuous improvement.
Intune operations, application packaging, and deployment pipelines, ensuring high quality and automation-first delivery.
Automation and engineering practices that reduce manual effort and increase service reliability.
Operational input into architectural decisions, working alongside Workplace Architects to validate feasibility and operability.
What You'll Do:
EUC Operations Leadership
Lead and mentor EUC engineers responsible for Intune operations, application packaging, and deployments.
Act as the final escalation point for complex or business-critical endpoint incidents.
Drive operational excellence across incident, change, and problem management processes.
Ensure endpoint services meet agreed SLAs, security baselines, and compliance requirements.
Advanced Endpoint Engineering (Hands‑On)
Maintain complex Intune configurations, including:
Device configuration and compliance policies.
Security baselines (BitLocker, Secure Boot, Conditional Access alignment).
Windows Autopilot and full device lifecycle management.
Troubleshoot and resolve large‑scale or high‑complexity Intune issues.
Application Packaging & DevOps Engineering
Lead advanced application packaging (Win32, MSIX, Store apps) and deployment strategies.
Own the operational lifecycle of applications: packaging, testing, deployment, updates, and retirement.
Ensure Intune configurations are operationally sound, supportable, and automation-friendly.
Design and optimize Azure DevOps‑based packaging pipelines, including:
Source control and versioning.
Automated testing and promotion.
Quality gates and governance.
Personally handle high‑risk or business‑critical packages.
Collaborate with architects on Intune design decisions, validating them from an operations perspective.
Automation, APIs & Innovation
Develop advanced PowerShell automation to:
Reduce manual operations.
Improve reliability and observability.
Enable proactive remediation.
Use Microsoft Graph API to extend Intune beyond the portal:
Custom reporting and dashboards.
Cross‑platform integrations.
Large‑scale automation.
Actively explore AI‑assisted operations, including Copilot and analytics‑driven optimizations.
Architecture Collaboration
Partner closely with Modern Workplace / Endpoint Architects to:
Translate architecture into executable operational solutions.
Provide feedback on operability, scalability, and supportability.
Influence design through real-world operational insight.
Ensure architectural changes are successfully transitioned into operations.
Mentoring & Technical Leadership
Mentor mid‑level and junior engineers across endpoint and packaging domains.
Create a culture of engineering excellence, documentation, and continuous improvement.
