Perth Full time

Just imagine your future with us…
At Aurecon, we see the future through a very different lens. Do you?

Diversity is embedded in everything we do. We work together to create a culture built on respect, trust, and inclusiveness. Our differences fuel our creativity. We embrace flexible working and are always open to discussing your individual needs, so you can create an experience that works for you.

What will you do?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Mechanical Engineer – Industrial to join our Perth, WA team.

In this role, you’ll provide mechanical leadership across industrial projects, with a strong focus on pumps, pump stations, pipelines and piping systems. You’ll work in a sustaining capital and brownfield delivery environment, partnering with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, buildable and compliant outcomes for our clients—particularly in the resources and defence markets.

What you will be doing

  • Senior/Lead mechanical design delivery for pumping and piping/pipeline packages across concept, feasibility, detailed design and construction support.
  • Develop and review key deliverables including datasheets, specifications, scopes of work, design reports, calculations and drawings, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Provide technical leadership on pump selection and system design (e.g., duty/standby philosophies, hydraulics, NPSH, controls/interfaces, operability and maintainability).
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces (process, civil/structural, electrical/EI&C, drafting/BIM) and manage inputs from distributed/offshore teams where required.
  • Support project delivery to timeframes and budgets, managing scope, risk and priorities across multiple work fronts.
  • Drive Safety in Design, constructability and brownfield integration—working closely with site stakeholders, contractors and vendors.
  • Mentor and uplift capability across the team, supporting less senior engineers and sharing expertise.

Here are the key things you will need to ‘bring ideas to life’:

  • Strong background in industrial mechanical engineering within mining, resources, water and/or defence environments (sustaining capital/brownfield experience highly regarded).
  • Demonstrated capability leading pumps, pipelines and piping scopes (design, reviews, vendor engagement and delivery coordination).
  • Experience delivering work in line with Australian legislation, Australian Standards, client specifications and industry norms.
  • Confidence working across project fundamentals: scope definition, cost/schedule inputs, and effective collaboration with project managers and discipline leads.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach—comfortable engaging with clients, operations teams, contractors and suppliers.
  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Defence projects: for some programs, Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain a Defence clearance may be required.
