As a Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for defining, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective production. This role involves hands-on engagement with tooling, equipment, and production systems, as well as validating the design and shop floor application of new products, tools, and technologies. You will collaborate across engineering, design, quality, and operations teams to drive continuous improvement and support strategic initiatives.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and control production processes, including tooling specifications, process flow, and layout.

  • Validate design specifications and ensure successful implementation of new products, tools, and technologies on the shop floor.

  • Analyze and improve manufacturing methods to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve product quality.

  • Identify and implement process savings opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce scrap, and increase yield.

  • Lead process development and documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and control plans.

  • Support new product introductions (NPIs) by coordinating manufacturing readiness, process capability studies, and pilot builds.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production issues.

  • Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability and scalability of new designs.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other structured methodologies.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and use data-driven approaches to improve throughput and reduce cost.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and internal policies.

  • Participate in cross-functional teams to align manufacturing strategies with business objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong understanding of production systems and process optimization.

  • Demonstrated program or project management skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to propose solutions beyond standard parameters under guidance.

  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to provide informal guidance to team members and collaborate across departments.

  • Understanding of key business drivers and how engineering decisions impact broader organizational goals.

  • Ability to work independently as an individual contributor or as an early-stage people leader capable of hiring and developing talent.
