SUMMARY
The HIM Regulatory Specialist lead under the direction of the Manager of HIM Regulatory Operations will be responsible for ensuring records are maintained in accordance with RRH policy, procedures and affiliate based bylaws and meet various clinical regulatory compliance standards related to completeness, timeliness, quality, and retention. The HIM Regulatory Specialist Lead provides continuity during the initial and ongoing training of employees following established policy and procedures. The lead is responsible for addressing questions and issues in the absence of a manager. The HIM Regulatory Specialist Lead is the designated super user for Regulatory Operations for both internal and external parties in person, verbally and in writing to meet/exceed customer needs and/or organizational requirements/goals.

• In-depth knowledge of medical transcription guidelines (The AHDI Book of Style for Medical Transcription, 3rd edition) and practices.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology, and the applicable medical specialties preferred.
• High school Diploma, required. Associates Degree, preferred.
- Documentation Integrity (AHDI) strongly preferred.
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) Preferred.
Certified Healthcare Documentation Specialist (CHDS) by the Association for Healthcare Preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
• (3+) years of experience in Health Information Management or other Healthcare setting.
• (3+) years of experience in Regulatory Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborates with peers in the development and standardization of improved and automated workflows within the electronic medical record system and other applicable systems.
• Participates in EHR design and build sessions.
• Assists management in development of training documentation/instructions for end users.
• Assists management in creating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Assists management in training team members on new functionality/workflows.
• Provides feedback to management on performance issues or concerns.
• Participates in data capture and reporting through the writing and development of ad-hoc reports from the EHR and other applicable systems.
• Knowledgeable in data and reporting manipulation through Excel, as well as the ability to use other components of the Microsoft Suite.
• Assists with answering questions and addressing issues in the absence of the manager.
• Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of the function based area and is a super user for both internal and external team members/customers.
• Assists with prioritizing workflows.
• Oversees deficiency management activities related to physician notification and sanctioning with regard to record deficiencies
• Oversees creation of reports of incomplete and delinquent medical records for distribution to appropriate hospital administrators.
• Prepares audit reports to be shared with upper level administrative and faculty members as well as hospital committees and workgroups.
• Serves as an expert in deficiency management for the HIM department as well as non-HIM employees or staff members seeking information.
• Requires analytical skills to analyze performance data and regulatory requirements.
• Maintains assigned work queues for chart completion.
• Oversees the suspension process applicable to each facilities bylaws.
• Participates in cross coverage support of other function based areas as needed and at the discretion of the manager.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant.
