Lead FPGA Applications Engineer – ATE Business Unit

As Lead FPGA Engineer, you'll support advanced digital hardware systems with FPGAs for ATE applications, collaborating with customers to meet system requirements. You'll support hardware and software teams in solving integration issues, mentor junior engineers, and produce technical documentation. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who thrives in solving complex problems, influencing product roadmaps, and engaging directly with customers. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Adapt HDL designs for FPGAs to meet customer requirements  

  • Support the hardware and software teams in system level definition, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting 

  • Conduct product demonstrations and develop prototypes to showcase solutions for customers and stakeholders. 

  • Develop design documentation, application notes, How-To guides, and technical articles 

  • Remain actively engaged in product applications development, debug, product evaluations, and customer support. 

  • Partner with strategic customers to understand system-level challenges, act as customer liaison, and co-develop differentiated, value-added solutions. 

  • Provide application technical support and help convert opportunities into design wins by partnering with sales, marketing, and technical teams. 

  • Mentor junior engineers, support career progression, and collaborate cross-functionally with Design, FAEs, Failure Analysis, Marketing, and Sales to deliver integrated solutions. 

 

Key Qualifications 

  • Solid technical background in electronics, semiconductors, or related areas; experience with ATE (Pin Electronics, Timing Generator, DPS, PMU, Switches, Multiplexers) is a significant plus 

  • Practical experience in digital design using Verilog 

  • Skilled in hardware, HDL, and software debugging and troubleshooting 

  • Understanding of embedded systems and processors, including ARM and Microblaze 

  • Required familiarity with software environments such as Linux and bare-metal 

  • Experience working with Xilinx devices and tools like Vivado and Vitis 

  • Demonstrated hands-on ability in product applications, system integration, and bench measurements for validation and stakeholder inquiries 

  • Background in mentoring, providing technical leadership, and supporting engineers while maintaining technical involvement 

  • Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written 

  • Team-oriented, critically minded, and proactive in solving problems 

 

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or related field. 

  • At least 9 years of relevant experience, including some leadership or mentoring responsibilities. 

 

Work Arrangement and Travel 

This role offers a hybrid work setup, combining onsite and remote work. Occasional domestic and international travel is expected for customer visits, technical conferences, and team engagements.
