Position Summary

As a Lead Data Scientist, you will be the technical authority responsible for the architectural vision and hands-on execution of our most complex AI/ML/GenAI initiatives. This role demands a rare hybrid of machine learning/GenAI mastery and hardcore cloud engineering. You will not just "build models"; you will design the entire ecosystem—from automated data ingestion to CI/CD-driven deployment—ensuring our solutions are scalable, resilient, and integrated into the S&P Global fabric.

Key Responsibilities

1. ML Architecture & Strategy

  • End-to-End Design: Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale ML/AI systems on AWS, focusing on both traditional predictive modelling and cutting-edge GenAI (RAG, Agentic workflows).
  • Technical Roadmap: Drive the strategy for MLOps, model lifecycle management (ML Lifecycle), and automated deployment strategies to ensure "time to market" is minimized without quality trade-offs.

2. AWS Engineering & Infrastructure

  • Cloud-Native Development: Architect event-driven systems using AWS ECS, Lambda, batch, Step Functions, SQS, and SNS.
  • Containerization: Implement sophisticated container orchestration using Docker and AWS ECS/Fargate.
  • Scalable Data Systems: Oversee the integration of high-throughput data pipelines using Snowflake, Trino, and Apache Iceberg.

3. Build Process & DevOps Excellence

  • CI/CD Leadership: Establish and enforce gold-standard CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, ensuring automated testing, linting, and security scanning are baked into every release.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Utilize Terraform to manage and version-control all ML infrastructure, ensuring reproducibility across environments.
  • Git Workflow Mastery: Manage complex branching strategies, code review protocols, and repository governance to maintain high code quality across the team.

4. Mentorship & Collaboration

  • Lead by Example: Mentor Senior Engineers on architectural best practices and production-grade Python coding standards.
  • Stakeholder Bridge: Translate intricate business problems into solvable Data Science tasks and communicate technical progress to non-technical executive audiences.

8+ years in Data Science/ML Engineering; 3+ years in a Lead capacity.

Machine Learning

Supervised/Unsupervised machine learning, Deep Learning (PyTorch/TensorFlow), LLMs (Bedrock, OpenAI, Gemini), RAG, and Agentic AI.

AWS Stack

SageMaker, Lambda, ECS Fargate, Batch, Step Functions, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, Bedrock, and OpenSearch.

Engineering

Expert Python, Fast API for microservices, Docker, and SQL/NoSQL optimization.

Build & Ops

Git/GitHub, GitHub Actions (CI/CD), Terraform (IaC), and Mops (MLflow/DVC).

Data Tooling

Snowflake, Apache Iceberg, Trino, and Vector Databases (ElasticSearch/OpenSearch).

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
  • Certifications: AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty or AWS Solutions Architect Professional is a major plus.

People Skills

  • The "Lead" Mindset: Ability to take full ownership of timelines and deliveries while maintaining a "People First" collaborative spirit.
  • Curiosity: A drive to constantly evaluate and integrate emerging AI frameworks (LangGraph, MCP, etc.) to keep the team ahead of the curve.
