North Point Technology is supporting a major financial services organization in hiring a Lead Data Architect to join their Enterprise Data & Analytics Architecture team. This role designs and models enterprise data assets across both on-prem and cloud environments, ensuring scalable, high-performance data solutions.
You will partner with Data Engineering, Enterprise Data Management, and Architecture teams to establish best practices, define data access patterns, and drive strategic decisions around tooling and platform adoption.
This position follows a hybrid schedule with 2–3 in-office days per week (approx. 10-12 days per month).
Design optimal logical and physical data models using ER Studio or similar tools
Resolve complex performance, capacity, and replication challenges
Architect and evaluate cloud-based data solutions
Lead data lakehouse design on AWS Redshift, Oracle Exadata, Apache Iceberg
Optimize solutions for large-scale data volumes
Design ETL pipelines across medallion architecture layers
Design Kafka schemas for real-time data movement
Integrate metadata into the enterprise data catalog
Collaborate with data management tooling teams
Drive optimal selection and use of data tools (on-prem + cloud)
Advocate and enforce best practices for enterprise data platforms
Serve as a SME for data architecture and modeling standards
Influence engineering teams to adopt proper architectural practices
Establish data access patterns for analytics and operational use cases
Recommend appropriate tools and technologies for data consumption
Expert-level knowledge in Data Architecture, Data Modeling, Data Lakehouse, and Data Warehouse methodologies (star, snowflake, normalization/denormalization)
Strong experience with:
Oracle (RAC, Exadata)
SQL Server
AWS Redshift
Oracle GoldenGate, AWS DMS
Advanced SQL / PL/SQL and performance tuning
Deep expertise in AWS Data Ecosystem:
Athena, Iceberg, Lake Formation, Glue, EMR, SageMaker, S3, Airflow, Aurora, Presto
Scripting/automation (Shell, Python)
Strong understanding of Parquet, Avro, JSON, and selecting formats for use cases
Experience architecting both real-time (Kafka) and batch data pipelines
Knowledge of metadata management and enterprise data governance
Ability to create data access roles and secure cloud data assets (Lake Formation, Glue)
Familiarity with BI/analytics tools (Tableau, ThoughtSpot, SageMaker)
Financial services experience highly preferred
AWS or relevant cloud certification
Strong communication and enterprise collaboration skills
Ability to lead, influence, and guide data engineering teams
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Science, Business Administration, or related field (required)
10–15+ years of relevant professional experience
Less than 25% travel
