Lead Capital Markets Document Negotiator APAC

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Capital Markets Document Negotiator to be based in Tokyo, responsible for the preparation, negotiation and tracking of various trading and derivative related legal agreements.


In this role, you will:

  • Prepare, negotiate and track various trading and derivative legal agreements covering the most complex arrangements and derivative transactions with counterparties, including without limitation, dealers, institutional, corporate and complex counterparties
  • Review legal agreements which include but are not limited to International Swaps and Derivatives Association Master Agreements including schedules, Credit Support Annexes, other credit support documents, North American Energy Standards Boards, Master Repurchase Agreements, Master Securities Forward Transaction Agreements, Prime Brokerage Agreements, Futures Agreements, Master Confirmations and underlying authority documentation
  • Advise management of industry trends or issues based on recently negotiated transactions
  • Work on various projects, including amending and updating templates, processes or systems
  • Interpret policy when working with legal, credit and the relevant business
  • Review deal terms with customers
  • Identify and mitigate business and legal risks within compliance requirements
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement
  • Interpret policies, procedures and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
  • Lead a team to achieve objectives


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Capital Markets Document Negotiation experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Excellent understanding of the underlying transaction and security documents and be able to grasp and articulate basic credit, operational, legal and business issues which arise during the negotiation and execution processes
  • Business proficiency in Japanese language
