Lead Assessor (4949) (TS/SCI) (Tampa, FL)

SMX is seeking a Lead Assessor to provide senior-level operational, analytical, and advisory expertise in support of U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) mission requirements. This role leads complex assessments of operational readiness, risk, force employment, and capability effectiveness across joint, coalition, and interagency environments. The Lead Assessor integrates intelligence, ISR, aviation, and operational planning disciplines to deliver decision-quality assessments to senior military and civilian leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute strategic, operational, and programmatic assessments supporting USCENTCOM priorities, plans, and execution orders.
  • Evaluate effectiveness, risk, and readiness of ISR, aviation, and joint operational capabilities across multiple AORs.
  • Develop and brief senior-level assessment products, including risk memoranda, recommendations, and courses of action for General Officer/SES audiences.
  • Coordinate assessment activities across Joint Staff, Component Commands, coalition partners, and interagency stakeholders.
  • Apply structured analytic methodologies to assess force posture, resource allocation, mission outcomes, and operational tradeoffs.
  • Oversee assessment teams, providing mentorship, quality control, and methodological rigor.
  • Support crisis response, contingency planning, and time-sensitive operational assessments.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to streamline assessment workflows and reporting mechanisms.
  • Interface with industry and innovation partners as required to assess emerging capabilities and modernization efforts.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in military operations, intelligence, aviation, ISR, or joint force environments.
  • Extensive experience operating within USCENTCOM or Combatant Command headquarters.
  • Demonstrated expertise in ISR operations, aviation operations, operational planning, and risk management.
  • Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional teams in high-tempo, globally deployed environments.
  • Strong executive communication skills with experience briefing senior leaders and producing high-impact written products.
  • Deep understanding of joint, coalition, and interagency operations.
  • Active TS/SCI eligible clearance

Desired:

  • Former senior military officer or equivalent civilian leadership experience.
  • Experience managing or assessing low-density/high-demand ISR assets and large operational portfolios.
  • Background in test & evaluation, standardization/evaluation, or capability development.
  • Familiarity with force allocation processes, execution orders, and Global Force Management.
  • Experience supporting Presidential-directed operations, crisis response, or humanitarian missions.

The proposed salary for this position is:
$126,200$210,400 USD
