Scope of Position

Reporting to the Director, Digital Experience, the Lead Architect, Commercial Platforms is responsible for shaping how Salesforce supports Watts’ global commercial model as the company standardizes on SAP as its core enterprise platform.

This role ensures Salesforce evolves as a disciplined extension of SAP — not a parallel system. The architect will stabilize the current environment, define scalable design standards, and guide how Salesforce, SAP, and related integrations work together to support distributors, independent representatives, and internal sales teams worldwide.

Partnering with business leaders, delivery teams, and Enterprise Architecture, this role focuses on building a commercial platform that is simpler, globally consistent, and capable of scaling with Watts’ multi-year ERP transformation.

This position can be hybrid, based in Andover, MA or remote.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the target Salesforce architecture across Sales, Service, and Revenue Cloud, in alignment with Enterprise Architecture and the Chief Architect.

  • Ensure Salesforce supports Watts’ B2B sales model — including distributors, independent reps, and regional structures — without creating fragmented regional solutions.

  • Define how Salesforce integrates with SAP, establishing and enforcing clear system-of-record boundaries for product, pricing, customer, order, and billing data.

  • Design integration and data patterns that scale globally and support Watts’ ERP consolidation roadmap.

  • Assess the current platform, identify technical debt and duplication, and drive a roadmap to simplify, standardize, and stabilize the environment.

  • Provide architectural oversight for Salesforce initiatives globally, reviewing designs from internal teams, partners, and offshore resources to ensure alignment with standards.

  • Establish practical governance and design guardrails that prevent one-off solutions while helping delivery teams move faster.

  • Mentor admins and developers and raise the overall maturity of Salesforce delivery practices.

  • Partner with Sales, Finance, Operations, and IT leadership to translate business needs into architecture decisions that support both current operations and long-term strategy.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years working with Salesforce, including time owning platform architecture decisions in an enterprise environment.

  • Strong hands-on experience with CPQ / Revenue Cloud in complex pricing, configuration, and quote-to-order scenarios.

  • Proven experience integrating Salesforce with SAP, with clear understanding of how to keep product, pricing, order, and financial logic anchored in SAP.

  • Experience supporting complex B2B sales models such as distributors, independent reps, or multi-tier channel structures.

  • Background working in companies with multiple regions, legacy systems, and active transformation programs.

  • Track record of reviewing designs, and enforcing them across teams.

  • Strong communicator who can translate architecture decisions to both technical teams and business leaders.

  • Experience guiding offshore or partner delivery teams and improving delivery discipline.

  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial distribution, or similarly complex commercial environments strongly preferred.

What Success Looks Like

  • A Salesforce platform with clear boundaries and tight integration with SAP.

  • Reduced customization and more consistent global design patterns.

  • Commercial solutions that scale across regions without constant rework.

  • Faster delivery because standards and expectations are clear.

  • A platform that becomes easier to operate and extend as Watts continues its transformation.

General Applicable Company Competencies

  • Commitment to Watts’ values of integrity, accountability, continuous improvement and innovation, and transparency.

  • Punctuality and dependability.

  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work priorities and stressful conditions.

  • Adherence to all personnel policies, procedures, and standards of process as implemented by Watts.

  • Maintain productive and collaborative relationships with other Watts employees.

  • Adherence to Watts’ seven cultural beliefs: Growth Mindset, Customer-Focused Innovation, Constant Communication, Clear Goals, Collaborate Globally, Be Inclusive, and Take Action.
