The salary range for this position is dependent upon experience, ranging from $94,490 to $118,113.

Job Summary

This position supports critical functions related to Gas Supply Planning and Transportation. Responsibilities include managing the pipeline and storage portfolio, evaluating new gas load requests, conducting design day analyses, and overseeing capacity release activities. This position also develops and distributes monthly supply plans and Gas Supply Cost reports for internal stakeholders. Additionally, it monitors FERC-related rate cases for potential adjustments and assists in regulatory reporting and data requests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex supply planning studies and forecasts to optimize gas supply, transportation, and storage portfolios, ensuring cost-effective and reliable service.
  • Evaluate and recommend long-term capacity releases and demand volumes adjustments.
  • Manage daily, monthly and seasonal supply planning, including data analysis and continuous refinement of forecasting methodology.
  • Develop and distribute the monthly Gas Supply Minimum Plan and Gas Supply Cost to internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze new gas load requests and conduct regression analysis to determine design day requirements across all service areas.
  • Oversee storage injection and withdrawal planning to maintain adequate capacity year-round.
  • Support regulatory compliance by preparing SOX Cycle 9 and 11 documentation and monitoring FERC rate cases to assess customer impact.
  • Perform Retail Choice operations, supporting customers and Energy Services Companies (ESCOs) with daily and seasonal activities.
  • Prepare and deliver internal and external reports, and complete special projects, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Sciences, or a related field with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field with at least 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze large, complex datasets to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Presentation & Communication: Skilled in creating and delivering clear, compelling presentations for management audiences. Able to communicate complex analytical insights effectively in both written and verbal formats. Creativity in designing visually compelling and informative presentations is essential.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Access, and Power BI.
  • Leadership & Decision-Making: Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Problem Solving & Organization: Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills, with strong organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
  • Required to work a rotating on-call shift outside working hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate complex, cross-functional initiatives. Flexibility and precision in managing timelines and deliverables are essential.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with utility operations, gas supply planning, or energy market dynamics is preferred. Knowledge of natural gas procurement, interstate pipelines, utility regulation, and retail choice programs is highly desirable.
  • Technical Tools: Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI), forecasting software, or energy modeling platforms is advantageous.
  • Process Improvement: Proven ability to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements to enhance operational performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and engage with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies such as NYPSC, NYDPS, and FERC.
