Baker Hughes

LATAM Preboarding Leader

BR-RJ-RIO DE JANEIRO-VENTURA-AV REPUBLICA DO CHILE 330 Full time

About the Role

Baker Hughes is seeking a Preboarding Lead for Latin America to lead the execution, governance, and continuous improvement of preboarding activities across the region. This role is responsible for shaping how the company welcomes new talent and enables a compliant, consistent, and high-quality experience from offer acceptance through start date-supporting both immediate hiring needs and long-term workforce effectiveness.

Positioned as a regional leadership role within People & Culture Experience and Performance, the Preboarding Lead ensures preboarding processes are scalable, compliant, and aligned to enterprise talent strategies, while accommodating local regulatory requirements. The role does not execute transactional activities directly; instead, it leads through governance, partnership, vendor oversight, and subject matter expertise to drive strong outcomes across delivery teams.

Partnering closely with Talent Acquisition, People & Culture team, Legal, business leaders and multiple vendors, the Preboarding Lead plays a critical role in managing operational risk, candidate experience, and vendor performance across varying hiring volumes and complex regulatory environments.

As a Preboarding Lead for Latin America, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the execution and continuous improvement of regional Preboarding processes, ensuring consistency, scalability, and compliance while enabling local flexibility.
  • You will translate enterprise workforce plans and hiring strategies into effective preboarding delivery, proactively managing capacity for forecasted, peak, and bulk hiring volumes, and supporting change initiatives related to systems, processes, vendors, or organizational transitions.

Serving as the regional Subject Matter Expert for Preboarding, with deep expertise in employment offers, background screening, immigration and medical requirements, country-specific legal frameworks, and onboarding handoffs.

  • You will provide risk-based guidance and recommendations to internal stakeholders, engaging appropriate authorities when policy interpretation or regulatory decisions are required.
  • Owning the end-to-end candidate experience from offer acceptance through start date.
  • You will ensure timely communication, clear expectations, and effective issue resolution to drive engagement, reduce offer fallout, and support positive hiring outcomes while maintaining strong operational and compliance standards.
  • Overseeing the issuance of compliant employment offers, amendments, and related documentation across countries and worker types.
  • You will ensure all pre-employment screening and compliance activities are completed accurately and on time, proactively identifying, mitigating, and escalating risks in partnership with internal teams and RPO providers.

Providing day-to-day governance and oversight of external RPO and preboarding service providers.

  • You will establish service standards, governance routines, and escalation protocols to ensure adherence to contractual obligations, SLAs, KPIs, and compliance requirements.
  • Acting as the strategic escalation point, you will lead root-cause analysis of high-impact issues and ensure sustainable corrective actions are implemented and tracked, while maintaining audit readiness through standardized, documented processes.

Partnering closely with Talent Acquisition leadership, People & Culture Partners, Workforce Planning, and hiring leaders to align preboarding capacity with hiring demand.

  • You will act as a trusted advisor by anticipating volume fluctuations, risks, and dependencies, facilitating governance forums, stakeholder check-ins, and performance reviews to ensure transparency, alignment, and shared priorities.

Driving operational excellence through continuous evaluation of preboarding workflows, systems, and controls.

  • You will identify opportunities for simplification, automation, and efficiency, implement improvements, and monitor outcomes to ensure sustained performance, knowledge capture, and continuous optimization.

Using data and performance insights to track and report key preboarding metrics, including cycle times, compliance completion, quality indicators, candidate experience, and offer fallout.

  • You will ensure leadership visibility into performance trends and risks, proactively managing escalations and supporting internal, external, and government audit readiness as required.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Bring 7+ years of progressive experience in Talent Acquisition Operations, Preboarding, Onboarding, or HR Operations within a regional or global environment.
  • Demonstrate strong experience working within an RPO delivery model, including vendor governance, performance management, and escalation handling.
  • Possess a solid understanding of pre-employment compliance, background screening, regulatory requirements, and workforce planning across multiple countries.
  • Be comfortable operating in matrixed environments, leading through influence, governance, and partnership rather than direct execution.
  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance candidate experience, compliance, and operational rigor.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred), or equivalent professional experience.
  • Bring professional fluency in English (mandatory), Portuguese (mandatory), with proficiency in Spanish considered a strong advantage.
  • Be known for simplifying complexity, setting clear standards, enabling others to succeed, and delivering outcomes in fast‑paced, global environments.
