Job Summary: You will serve as a Language Specialist at GG-12 grade level responsible for performing full translations, summaries and abstracts relative to foreign languages in one or more lanuange group, culture or geographical area.

Major Duties:

  • You will maintain liaison with personnel in assigned and related fields, such as those in other intelligence agencies, to discuss mutual translation and production efforts.
  • You will utilize specific governing directives from SIGINT and other intelligence support functionalities in order to apply principles as appropriates.
  • You will participate in inter-agency and intra-agency meetings and conferences as required.
  • You will identify information gaps, specifies collection requirements to fill gaps, translates the intelligence collected in response to those requirements.
  • You will represent the organizational segment to which assigned on panels and committees where his/her knowledge and experience are judges necessary.

Qualifications: Applicants are required to show certification of Spanish language proficiency at the Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) level 3 or other equivalent Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) level 3 in both listening and reading proficiency (Limited Working Proficiency level). Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS/GG-11) or pay band in the federal service. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Develop Linguistic aids, tools and methodologies to be used by other translators 2. Uses judgement in interpreting and adapting guidelines such as the policies, regulations, precedents, and work directions for application to specific cases or problems. 3. Reviews translations prepared by other agencies for technical accuracy and logical treatment and interpretation of information. 4. Makes comments and recommendations, including changes and modifications for translation reports.
