Laboratory Technician

Perform laboratory testing to support business needs in a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound manner. Strict adherence to all company safety policies, guidelines, and laboratory testing methods. Continued maintenance and upgrading of skills in physical, chemical, and instrument testing. Compliance with good housekeeping and chemical hygiene standards in the deportment of all duties. Will be held accountable for the quality and quantity of work for all assigned tasks.

• A Refinery Laboratory Technician will be responsible for, but not limited to the following: must possess ability to make accurate arithmetic calculations; participate in laboratory training program; possess ability to work independently conducting laboratory tests as required; possess ability to multi-task for optimum efficiency; will be held accountable for the quality and quantity of all assigned work; and conform to strict adherence of all laboratory/plant safety policies, guidelines, and testing methods.

Required Qualifications:

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must have a minimum of one year of petroleum or chemical laboratory experience
• Must be able to work independently with minimal direction/supervision
• Must have successfully completed two (2) semesters of college chemistry
• Must possess minimal computer skills
• Must pass entry testing.
• Must satisfactorily complete training and demonstrate qualification
• Must continue to train and progress through Technician levels up to Lab Technician I
• Must possess and maintain a valid drivers’s license
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two or more years of petroleum or chemical laboratory experience
• Associate Degree in Chemistry   

  Unusual Working Conditions:

• Work 12 hour rotating shift schedule subject to forced overtime
• Standing for extended periods of time

The Hourly rate for this position is $47.24hr. The compensation listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law.  In addition to the hourly rate, PBF offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes bonus eligibility, health care, retirement benefits, and vacation time.
