About you and this role

We are seeking a talented individual to join our team in Tarragona, Spain. This role will provide analytical support to our existing customers located in the EMEAI region. The successful candidate will be part of the Global Customer Refining & Processing lab team within our Industrial Solutions market-facing business unit. 

In this role, you will be using your prior related experience, job-related training, or vocational training to complete routine activities. You will need to have basic technical or administrative skills to follow the established and approved work processes. You will need to understand how these assigned duties relate to other jobs within your workgroup and be able to exchange basic technical information with other team members

Responsibilities

The Lab Technician will be responsible for delivering analytical support to customers by ensuring a seamless lab operation and reliable/ reproduceable results. 

  • Performs routine analyses under direction of a senior team member until proficiency is demonstrated. 
  • Performs basic preventative maintenance of analytical systems - Acts responsible for calibration, safe operation, and routine maintenance of simple and moderately complex instruments or machinery, and troubleshoots faulty equipment effects repairs or initiates repair processes as appropriate
  • Provides evaluation of validity of data for routine analyses and takes appropriate action. 
  • Monitors analytical systems and promptly escalates problems as appropriate to Technology Leader or lead scientists in order to enable or accelerate problem resolution
  • Documents, communicates and archives analytical results and data. 
  • Follows EH&S and operating discipline management system (ODMS) procedures and practices for work tasks. 
  • Suggests improvements to lab work processes and tools. 
  • Escalates non-routine requests to appropriate team members for follow-up. 
  • Conduct periodic review and update of laboratory documentation to ensure compliance with current standards. 
  • Maintains inventories of consumable materials, chemicals, and supplies related to activities by anticipating usage rates, order lead times, and ordering/purchasing procedures

Qualifications

  • Completion of Vocational Education (Ciclo Formativo de Grado Superior relecionados con Laboratorio)
  • Advanced Vocational Education in Laboratory Analysis and Quality Control ​
  • You have at least 5 years of experience working in a laboratory environment

  • Efficient time management and personal organization. 
  • Proactivity in identifying and solving problems. 
  • Proficiency with computer tools and laboratory management software  
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data collection to support Design Of Experiments (DOE) for new product development
  • Excellent written communication, including technical writing. 
  • Service and product innovation ​
  • English/ Spanish are required
