Our laboratory’s diverse research environment works on comparative studies across species, age, and culture using multiple cognitive science techniques. Our broader goal is to understand how complex cognition emerges in humans, which cognitive and neural processes are universal across people, and what makes human cognition unique compared to other species.
Through our developmental work, we focus on early childhood cognitive development in the domains of spatial, mathematical, and logical reasoning. We use behavioral experiments to understand the mechanisms and fMRI to understand the functional bases of cognition in the brain. Our laboratory also engages in STEM Outreach projects with elementary school children – with a focus on developing biology, psychology, and computer science interests in young children.
Core responsibilities include:
Organize and coordinate participant recruitment
Manage research databases and study protocols
Code cognitive tasks and support data collection
Assist with data analysis
Perform other duties as assigned
