Basic Functions
This position provides instruction for professional skills training, youth programs, and community education non-credit classes. The role is responsible for preparing and delivering engaging, well-organized instruction appropriate to the subject matter and participant audience, while maintaining a safe and positive learning environment. The position also completes required attendance, evaluation, and assessment reporting to support program accountability and continuous improvement. Classes may be offered during the day, evenings, or weekends based on program needs.
Position Duties
25% - Instructional Preparation
This portion of the role focuses on preparing instruction for assigned non-credit classes. The instructor is responsible for planning and organizing course content appropriate to the subject matter and intended audience, whether professional skills, youth programs, or community education. This includes developing lesson plans, instructional materials, and activities that support stated learning objectives and align with class descriptions. The instructor ensures lessons are structured, engaging, and appropriate for the age, skill level, and learning needs of participants. Preparation may also include coordinating required materials, tools, or supplies and reviewing relevant safety or participation guidelines prior to instruction.
65% - Instructional Delivery
This portion of the role focuses on delivering effective instruction in a classroom, lab, workshop, or other approved learning environment. The instructor facilitates learning through clear communication, demonstrations, guided practice, and discussion, adapting instructional methods as needed to support participant engagement and understanding. Responsibilities include maintaining a positive and respectful earning environment; managing classroom behavior; and ensuring participant safety. The instructor communicates professionally with students, parents or guardians (when applicable), and UACCB staff, and responds appropriately to questions or concerns related to the class.
10% - Reporting and Data Collection
This portion of the role focuses on completing required instructional reporting. The instructor is responsible for recording accurate attendance records, administering required evaluations or assessments, and submitting basic outcomes or completion information as requested. For classes that include skill checks or assessments, the instructor documents participant progress or performance using provided guidelines. This information supports program accountability, continuous improvement, and institutional reporting requirements.

Subject Matter Expertise: Knowledge of the content area being taught and how to present it accurately and appropriately for the intended audience.
Instructional Practices: Knowledge of basic instructional methods, including lesson planning, facilitation, learner engagement, and age-appropriate teaching strategies.
Classroom Environment and Safety: Knowledge of maintaining a positive, respectful learning environment and applying appropriate behavior management and safety practices.

Qualifications:
Qualifications
Demonstrated proficiency, training, or experience in the subject area to be taught, appropriate to the level and audience of the non-credit class. Ability to plan and deliver instruction in a professional and effective manner.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching, training, or instructional experience in a relevant setting, such as workforce training, youth programs, community education, or adult learning. Experience working with diverse audiences or in applied, hands-on instructional environments is a plus.
