Job Summary
The Key Private Bank Market Leader (KPB ML) directly manages the Private Banking sales team and indirectly manages the support teams to drive business results. Managing the financial performance of the Private Banking sales teams, the KPB ML is accountable for the delivery of exceptional sales results, the execution of a disciplined sales culture, and the coaching and development of a high performing sales team. The KPB ML leads the Private Bank sales team to provide comprehensive, integrated investment, trust, banking, and planning solutions for generations of high-net-worth individuals and their families. Through a team-based approach, the sales team implements a disciplined planning approach which simplifies the complex needs of clients to help them grow, preserve, and transfer wealth. Private Bank clients consist of: (1) Ultra Wealth - Individuals with $10MM + in Investable Assets and/or $15MM in Net Worth; (2) Core Wealth - Individuals with $1MM Investable Assets or $2MM in Net Worth; and (3) Emerging Wealth - Individuals less than 45 years old with either $250K in Household Income or $500,000 in Investable Assets.

Essential Functions

  • Coaches and directs the team sales efforts through utilization of consistent sales processes/tools including a disciplined approach to prospecting, development of internal/external centers of influence and follow- up to leads.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of products and services as well as proactively acquires knowledge of competitors and competitive products to support the awareness of sales team.
  • Fosters an environment for learning/best practice sharing and accountability; drives the performance and sustained success of the KPB sales team.
  • Remains in close proximity to team to provide real-time support for each RM and to fully appreciate and understand the client's comprehensive needs, based on the review and analysis of personal and financial data gathered through Relationship Reviews, the Desktop and personal meetings.
  • Participates in joint calls with RMs to enhance selling skills and uncover opportunities.
  • Actively participates and creates opportunities for sales team participation in community organizations to source business development opportunities and demonstrate Key's commitment to the local community.
  • Producing Managers are also responsible for prospecting and bringing in new business (team revenue goal will be adjusted accordingly).
  • Through partnership with Credit, ensuring quality execution of the underwriting process and pursuing appropriate strategies to ensure asset quality is maintained.
  • Manages talent assessment and acquisition and actively coaches sales force to deliver business results.
  • Accountable for acquiring and building bench strength for Private Banking, including the development of strategic sourcing strategies and appropriate employee development and business training.
  • Creates a positive work environment, establishes high standards for work quality and provides in-person support and opportunities for career growth and job satisfaction in order to develop and retain a highly trained and motivated staff.
  • Provides hands-on support to build an effective, cohesive team based upon integrity and application of Key Values.
  • Establishes and tracks performance objectives for team members; manages and evaluates staff performance to established objectives and differentiates performance.
  • Manages cost center and oversees administrative requirements for team.

  • Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key.


Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field (accounting, finance, economics, or related field) or equivalent work experience (preferred)
  • Master's Degree (preferred)
  • OR equivalent experience (required)


Work Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years Private Banking, Investment Management, or Trust experience and/or progressively responsible and successful sales management experience (required)
  • Additional banking experience in operations/client services or other LOB areas to gain broader understanding of organizational structure and workflow (preferred)


Licenses and Certifications

  • Progress toward or completion of Cannon Trust Schools I, II, and III or equivalent industry training (required)
  • CTFA (Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor) designation (preferred)


Skills

  • The ability to uphold legal and ethical responsibilities in managing client assets, ensuring all actions align with fiduciary standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Expertise in structuring wills, trusts, and other legal instruments to help clients manage and transfer wealth efficiently and according to their wishes.
  • Managing the daily operations of trust and agency accounts, including interpreting legal documents, distributing assets, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Understanding and applying tax regulations to minimize liabilities and proactively identifying and mitigating risks associated with fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of financial markets and investment vehicles to support client goals and ensure trust assets are managed prudently.
  • The ability to interpret financial data and reports to make informed decisions and provide strategic advice to clients and internal teams.
  • Building and maintaining long-term, trust-based relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction and loyalty through consistent, high-quality service.
  • Providing personalized financial and estate planning guidance to clients, helping them navigate complex wealth management decisions.
  • Effectively conveying information, both verbally and in writing, to clients, colleagues, and external partners with clarity and professionalism.
  • Staying informed about current laws, regulations, and industry standards that impact trust and estate administration.
  • Identifying opportunities to expand client relationships and generate new business through strategic outreach and consultative selling.
  • Overseeing client portfolios, ensuring service delivery meets expectations, and coordinating with internal teams to address client needs.
  • Using specialized software to manage trust accounts, track transactions, and generate reports with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Enhancing operational workflows to increase efficiency and reduce exposure to legal, financial, or reputational risks.

Physical Demands

  • General Office - Prolonged sitting, ability to communicate face to face in person or on the phone with teammates and clients, frequent use of PC/laptop, occasional lifting/pushing/pulling of backpacks, computer bags up to 10 lbs.


Travel

  • Routine and frequent travel to include overnight stay.


Driving Requirements

  • May need to drive to multiple locations in a single day; ability to operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's license required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $128,000.00 - $268,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
