Ibero Coffee Trading Company founded on July 14th, 2010, is part of the Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG). Ibero Tanzania has a prominent presence in the dynamic coffee industry, with its headquarters in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Our main operation is the export of high-quality green coffee nurtured in the lush coffee-growing regions of Tanzania i.e., Kilimanjaro, Mbeya, Songwe, Ruvuma, Arusha and Kagera.
For our group company, Ibero Coffee Trading (T) Company Ltd, we are seeking a Junior Trader to join our team in Dar es salaam, Tanzania. This role reports directly to the Country Manager, both functionally and administratively.
The Junior Trader at Ibero Coffee Trading (T) Company Ltd will support the coffee trading team in sourcing, analyzing, commercializing and exporting Arabica and Robusta coffee across Tanzania.
The role combines field exposure, data-driven analysis, and commercial decision-making, with a strong focus on learning the full coffee value chain from farm to export. The Junior Trader will work closely with the trade, quality, logistics, and operations teams to support profitable and sustainable coffee trading activities. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for monitoring the purchases and sales as well as the documentation associated with it. This position is ideal for a highly analytical, commercially and open-minded individual with a passion for coffee, strong curiosity, and a desire to grow into a trading role.
Key Responsibilities.
1. Coffee Sourcing & Commercialization
Support sourcing activities by working with suppliers across different coffee-growing regions in Tanzania.
Travel regularly to production areas to gather market intelligence, understand crop conditions, build knowledge of local supply dynamics as well as relationships with producers.
Assist in evaluating coffee quality, volumes, and availability.
Monitoring supply and demand needs its different qualities as well.
Manage inquiries and maintain communication with customers.
2. Market & Data Analysis
Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to coffee prices, differentials, volumes, and market trends.
Support in preparing market reports, cost analyses, and commercial calculations.
Maintain and improve internal datasets related to sourcing, pricing, and performance.
3. Commercial Support
Assist in the execution of purchase and sales contracts.
Develop a strong understanding of commercial terms, Incoterms, risk management, and pricing structures in the coffee trade.
Develop a strong understanding of the coffee qualities and business structure in Tanzania.
4. Process Optimization
Identify opportunities to improve trading, sourcing, and information flows across departments.
Support the development and refinement of internal processes related to data management, reporting, and trade execution as well as customer communication.
Apply analytical tools to improve efficiency and decision-making.
5. Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with the different teams to ensure smooth execution of coffee trades in terms of timelines and quality.
Work closely with the admin team to ensure adequate reporting and monitoring of stocks.
6. Learning & Development
Actively build knowledge of coffee quality both physical and sensory, global coffee markets, pricing and agronomy.
Stay informed about industry developments, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory changes affecting coffee exports.
Demonstrate a high willingness to learn and gradually take on increased responsibility within the trading team.
Your Profile
Professional expertise
Bachelor’s degree in economics, Finance or Agribusiness
Background in commercial operations within a coffee trading company, supporting sourcing, market analysis, contract execution.
Experience in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting market data, price trends, volumes, and supply-demand dynamics to support trading decisions is an added advantage.
Intercultural competence and strong communication skills with the ability to build positive work relationships with all stakeholders.
