Junior Test Engineer (12-Month Contract)

Onsite at San Diego Studios

Reports to: Test Engineering Manager / Test Engineering Lead

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Test Automation Support & Execution

 Create and maintain automated test scripts with guidance from senior engineers.
 Help identify test cases that can be automated.
 Contribute to increasing automation coverage across projects through routine test execution and updates.

Working With Automation Frameworks

 Use existing automation frameworks to build reliable, reusable tests.
 Assist in maintaining framework components and fixing minor issues as you grow your skills.
 Collaborate with developers and QA teams to ensure automated tests fit smoothly into the development workflow.

Quality, Coding Practices & Reliability

 Follow the team’s coding and automation standards to ensure consistent, maintainable tests.
 Participate in code reviews to learn best practices and improve test quality.
 Help ensure automated tests contribute to overall product stability and release confidence.

Collaboration, Growth & Continuous Learning

 Work closely with developers and QA teams to introduce automation earlier in the development process.
 Seek mentorship and feedback from experienced engineers to improve your technical and testing abilities.
 Stay curious and open to learning new tools, technologies, and AI-assisted testing approaches.
 

Required Skills and Capabilities

 Basic proficiency in at least one programming language used in test automation (e.g., C#, Java).
 Some experience writing automated tests or working with automation frameworks (coursework, projects, or internships are welcome).
 Familiarity with CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and how automated tests fit into build pipelines.
 A basic understanding of how to identify good candidates for test automation.
 Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical teammates.
 A desire to learn and grow in test automation, including exploring new methods such as AI-assisted testing.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

$40.40$50.50 USD
