Position Summary 

Reporting to the Senior Director Labour and Employee Relations, support the labour relations team, including labour relations advisors, in the administration of grievances, arbitrations and collective bargaining files.  Administer certain processes related to human resources management and labour relations.
 

Main responsibilities and tasks

  • Collect documentation relevant to disputes and grievances from the Faculties or Units concerned and ensure compliance with the various deadlines.
  • Participate in the basic analysis of grievances upon receipt and in the formulation of responses and transmit them.
  • Enter information in the case management system. Collaborate in maintaining and updating information in the case management system.
  • Conduct research and benchmarking in preparation for collective bargaining and grievance arbitration. Make recommendations based on findings.
  • Provide information to Human Resources Advisors, managers and employees regarding a variety of human resources policies and procedures and/or the application and interpretation of collective agreements.
  • Participate in the drafting of transactions and individual or collective agreements as well as in the creation or revision of internal policies or procedures.
  • Provide support in the preparation and follow-up of labour relations committees (drafting of agendas, drafting of minutes, follow-up of activities resulting from them, etc.)
  • Conduct a periodic review (monitoring) of case law and legislative changes.
  • Transmission of information to Unions (periodic reports, seniority lists, etc.)
  • Produce various statistical reports, summary tables and briefing notes, for research, analysis, or decision-making purposes.
  • Sort and assign incoming requests, from various sources, in the Human Resources Portal (Jira).
  • Maintain and update information in the Knowledge Base (KB) dedicated to labour relations.
  • Collaborate on various projects related to labour relations or human resources including the facilitation of meetings or workshops.
  • Any other duties related to labour relations.

Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources Management or Industrial Relations strongly preferred.
  • Work experience related to labour relations or human resources.
  • Designation of certified human resources professional (CRHA, CHRP, CRIA) or ORHRI candidate (asset).
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, great attention to detail and professionalism.
  • French and English bilingualism (spoken and written).
  • Team spirit and ability to develop good interpersonal relationships.
  • Excellent sense of organization and priority management.
