Junior Commodities Fundamental LNG Analyst

Position Overview:

  • Support the desk in building supply and demand models across various agricultural commodities
  • Support in the buildout of new analytical models, and processes to improve efficiency based on commodities fundamental best practices.
  • Produce ad hoc analysis based on short-term market developments as request by the desk to support commodities trade ideas.
  • Take ownership of desk's data flows, including onboarding new datasets or issues being faced
  • Run and maintain processes related to fundamental data operations
  • Work with different teams to capture cross-desk synergies (equity mapping) and improve systematic reporting (callouts) of information flow
  • Ad-hoc desk support regarding organization or technical assistance 

Typical Day:

  • Check all models/visualisations are working as expected and check for any issues in data.
  • Organise team confluence pages to ensure all information is up to date.
  • Produce any ad-hoc analysis that traders/analysts may require
  • Work on various long-term projects to build market-leading analytical models.

 Required Qualifications: 

  • Advanced degrees (MSc preferred) in Mathematics/Statistics or Quantitative Finance.
  • Experience in quantitative research – ideally through prior internship experience or in a related position, in particular in commodities trading.
  • Experience in highly quantitative trading asset classes (power in particular) and systematic trading is a plus
  • Coding skill in Python is required and ease with Excel/VBA is a plus.
  • Demonstrate passion for both investing and trends in commodities markets.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to quickly synthesize thoughts and organize information.
  • Openness to tackle any project or task that is required.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well with colleagues across multiple teams and regions.
