The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an energy, natural resources and infrastructure lawyer to join our award-winning Energy team, this position is based in our Beijing office. The team is busy, successful and growing and there are excellent career progression opportunities for the successful candidate.
The Associate will be working closely with industry-leading Energy partners as well as other corporate energy, projects and infrastructure specialists across Asia and the wider Herbert Smith Freehills network to support clients from a range of jurisdictions, focusing on energy, natural resources and infrastructure transactional matters in Asia, covering power (including renewables), LNG, oil and gas, mining, utilities (such as water and waste) and other critical infrastructure . This position is based in our Beijing office.
Skills, experience and qualifications:
Have at least 4 years' working experience in the Energy, Natural Resources or Infrastructure sectors, including trading of LNG and other energy commodities;
Be able to demonstrate excellent drafting, analytical and deal project management skills;
Be a confident, driven and collaborative individual;
Have experience of working as the lead associate on M&A, joint ventures, commercial contracts and regulation in energy and infrastructure;
Have a strong academic record;
Be enthusiastic, adaptable and industrious, with excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills;
Work effectively within tight timeframes, both collaboratively and autonomously;
Work well with people, including more junior team members who will depend on you for guidance;
Have excellent English and Chinese language skills (fluent written and spoken English and Chinese are required)
