Jr. Category Manager

The Junior Category Manager supports the Head of Food, Director of Food, and Food Category Team by partnering with BU operations and vendor partners to manage assigned categories. This role analyzes category performance and industry trends/insights and supports promotional planning and vendor management. The position also helps execute strategic initiatives that support the Foodservice Department.

Essential Functions:

  • Analyze category performance and industry trends/insights to inform category management and business decisions.
  • Support the Head of Food, Director of Food, and Food Category Team with vendor management (item setup, pricing, costs, product logistics, and in-stocks).
  • Plan, track, and execute vendor/operations sales incentives and/or contests.
  • Analyze planogram assortment and planning and provide support and recommendations on related processes.
  • Collaborate on promotional and pricing management and execute associated local activities.
  • Travel to BU retail stores up to 60%, including occasional overnight travel, to support in-store merchandising opportunities.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and/or professional societies.
  • Contribute to team financial and key result area targets in alignment with Company Plan guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to achieve operational excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, management, business economics, or related field preferred; other combinations of experience and education that meet the requirements may be substituted.
  • One to three years of work experience preferred.
  • Retail experience preferred but not necessary.
  • Demonstrate strong curiosity about retail and the constantly changing marketplace.
  • Be detail-oriented and able to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Be able to travel up to 60%, including occasional overnight travel.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license supported by a clean driving record.
