Job Summary: This position is located in the Washington Headquarter Services (WHS), Facilities Services Directorate (FSD). The incumbent performs Cyber Security and supports Computer operations for the FOG Operation and Maintenance program on the Pentagon reservation. This includes overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operation of all building utilities (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) for 6.5 million square feet of occupied space and serving over 20,000 customers.

Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following: Under supervision, you will assist in performing cybersecurity functions to secure and defend data and networks. This includes helping to ensure appropriate security controls are in place and supporting the administration of IT systems. You will support senior specialists by assisting with plans, maintenance, repairs, and emergency work for network and control systems. This involves helping review network drawings, firewall rule sets, and specifications for system modifications and upgrades. You will assist in investigating, conceptualizing, and developing HMI utility applications used in operating and maintaining building utility systems. You will also help prepare procedures for the proper maintenance of equipment. You will perform less complex project and/or contract management duties, assisting with planning, tracking, and evaluating IT support projects. This includes helping to define customer needs and technical requirements under the guidance of a senior specialist.

Qualifications: In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Individual Occupational Requirement Education: Undergraduate and Graduation Education (for GS-5 through GS-11): Major study--computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field. OR Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5) For GS-9: Experience that demonstrated knowledge of computer requirements and techniques in carrying out project assignments consisting of several related tasks, such as typically is the case in development of minor modifications to parts of a system on the basis of detailed specifications provided. The assignments must have shown completion of the following, or the equivalent: Analysis of the interrelationships of pertinent components of the system; Planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment; and Personal responsibility for at least a segment of the overall project. For GS-11: Experience that demonstrated accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques. For example, assignments would show, on the basis of general design criteria provided, experience in developing modifications to parts of a system that required significant revisions in the logic or techniques used in the original development. Accomplishments, in addition to those noted for the GS-9 level, normally involve the following, or the equivalent: Knowledge of the customary approaches, techniques, and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization; Planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls; and Adaptation of guidelines or precedents to the needs of the assignment. You may qualify at the GS-09 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal Service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) which has given me the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties related to the position being filled. Specialized experience is defined as: (1) interpreting and implementing IT policies, standards, and guidelines related to Facilities Related Control Systems (FRCS); (2) assessing information systems reliability and accessibility and preventing and defending against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data; and (3) evaluating IT related processes/procedures and developing operating procedures. You may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 in the Federal Service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) which has given me the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties related to the position being filled. Specialized experience is defined as: (1) applying a variety of IT principles, concept's, system architecture, and performing system integration methods; (2) interpreting IT policies, standards, and guidelines; and developing IT architecture and standards for Facilities Related Control Systems (FRCS), analyzing and evaluating methods and techniques to assess system and enterprise architecture; and (3) developing procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility; and preventing and defending against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
