IT Project Management Advisor

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE : Manages software development projects associated with Sedgwick’s Client Facing Applications (viaOne, mySedgwick and Smart.ly). The project manager is responsible for organizing, defining, and overseeing all facets of the project ensuring timely completion of defined scope meeting project stakeholder expectations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES MAY INCLUDE

  • Works closely with project stakeholders (clients, business, and IT representatives) to define and document project scope and objectives
  • Prepares detailed project plans/schedules to monitor and track progress through completion.
  • Manages changes to project scope using appropriate verification/approval techniques
  • Performs issue and risk management and escalates to management as needed
  • Ensures all assigned projects are delivered with agreed scope and objectives, on time and within the budgeted level of effort allocated for the assigned project.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation as required by established standards set by the IT governance office.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree requested, major in computer science field preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.

Seven (7) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Experience managing application development projects preferred.

CFA Project Manager Summary Overview/Expectations

The Client Facing Applications (CFA) project manager serves as the primary liaison between project stakeholders (our business partners) and technical teams responsible for bringing projects from concept to implementation. As such, the project manager will work closely with stakeholders to understand business problems, collaborate with IT leadership, product and development teams on solutions and design, and build consensus between all parties regarding project deliverables, expected outcomes, and timelines. CFA has a well-documented project management process set utilized by all CFA project managers to ensure a consistent project delivery experience for our business partners and technical teams across all projects.

Key expectations include:

  • Quickly learn, adopt and execute all projects using CFA’s Project Management process set.
  • Manage multiple projects, across all CFA products (mySedgwick, viaOne, Smart.ly, Sidekick, etc.) at different stages in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Manage high-visibility projects with accountability, transparency, and professionalism, and promptly address all issues with the highest sense of urgency.
  • Lead cross functional IT team projects.
  • Draft clear and concise scope documentation that outlines project expectations and success criteria.
  • Manage all projects to approved scope, and properly escalate all out-of-scope requests to CFA leadership.
  • Establish, manage to and meet project timeline commitments.
  • Manage project resources and removing roadblocks to ensure project milestones are met to deliver projects on-time (within 14 days of Change Point committed release date) and within budget.
  • Manage project estimates to within 25% +/- of the estimated effort (LOE) and properly escalate any change in project estimates to CFA leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Create risk management plan and strategies to enhance, avoid, transfer, or mitigate the risk.
  • Utilize Red/Yellow/Green health stop lights when projects are at risk of missing.
  • Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders and ensure that all project plans and documentation are current in Change Point and in CFA Project Portfolio SharePoint site.
  • Ensure all projects are properly documented with signoffs and necessary collateral to comply with IT Systems Development Lifecycle Standards, as defined by the Sedgwick IT Governance office.
