As an engineer you probably already know Aurecon as a leading design, engineering and advisory company. But the more interesting question is: what kind of future do you want to help create?
Our Transport, Land & Water team in Perth partners with government and private clients on everything from local intersection upgrades to major freeway interchanges, active transport corridors and precinct-scale developments across WA and beyond.
If you’re motivated by safer, more efficient and more sustainable transport networks – and enjoy coaching others while still staying close to the technical work – this role is for you.
As our new Lead Transport Engineer, you’ll be a key technical and delivery leader in our WA traffic team. You will:
Lead the planning, analysis and design of traffic and transport solutions for road, intersection, active transport and precinct projects across WA
Manage and review traffic studies, impact assessments, network capacity assessments and microsimulation modelling (e.g. SIDRA, Aimsun / VISSIM or similar)
Provide trusted advice to clients such as transport agencies, local governments and private developers, including participation in workshops and presentations
Coordinate traffic and transport inputs into multi-disciplinary projects, working closely with road design, civil, structures, planning and digital teams
Oversee technical quality, design standards and assurance for traffic deliverables from concept through detailed design and construction support
Lead and mentor a small team of traffic/transport engineers, helping them grow their technical capability and consulting skills
Contribute to bids, client relationship development and new service offerings, including digital tools and automation in traffic engineering workflows
You’ll have a genuine passion for re-imagining how people and goods move through cities and regions, and enjoy solving complex transport problems in a collaborative way.
Along with your curiosity and drive to keep learning, you will bring:
Degree qualifications in civil / transport engineering or a related discipline
Significant experience in traffic engineering and transport planning, ideally gained on Australian or New Zealand projects
Strong skills in traffic analysis and modelling tools (for example SIDRA plus one or more of Aimsun, VISSIM or similar)
Sound knowledge of relevant standards and guidelines (e.g. Austroads, Main Roads WA and local government requirements)
Demonstrated experience leading traffic inputs on multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, including client-facing delivery
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly
Chartered status (CPEng) or equivalent, or a clear pathway towards it
Joining Aurecon means joining a team recognised for both innovation and sustainability – including independent awards that place us among the leading professional services firms in these areas.
You’ll enjoy:
Truly flexible working – including hybrid work options, flexible hours and the ability to shape a rhythm that works for you and your team
A personalised learning and development program, with access to technical communities, mentoring and formal leadership and design capability programs
Support to build your technical eminence and industry profile through conferences, publications and client-facing opportunities
A culture that genuinely values diversity, inclusion and different ways of thinking – backed by external recognition for gender equality, LGBTI+ inclusion and our Reconciliation Action Plan
Access to wellbeing support, paid parental leave and a range of additional leave and benefit options
