Glimpse of the Job

The IT Professional II, focusing on Clinical Support and stationed in the Beutel, Student Services (SSB) and Health Hub buildings, serves as the direct IT support liaison for University Health Services (UHS) clinical systems and users. This position ensures quality patient care by addressing emergent technology issues in a fast-paced clinical environment. Embedded within the clinical setting, the role acts as a partner to UHS medical teams, Informatics staff, and the broader campus technology community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Three years of related experience in IT

  • Two years of IT experience in an academic and clinical setting preferred

Salary: $47,500
Location: In-person role in College Station (Beutel, Student Services, Health Hub)

Schedule: This role may require working on-call or outside of standard office hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support the demands of technology services and ensure the seamless operation of essential systems. 

Key Responsibilities

Service and Support

  • Provides technical oversight and training for conducting research of problems and formulating recommended solutions for customers.

  • Resolves hardware and software issues, including coordination with vendor technical support.

  • Repairs hardware problems and performs installations, configurations, and maintenance of both critical and non-critical software and hardware.

  • Provides primary administrative responsibility for software products or systems.

  • Prepares specifications for hardware and software purchases and upgrades.

  • Assists with production control, disaster recovery, networking, computer operations, and other system administration tasks.

Clinical IT Engagement

  • Investigates and determines the scope of problems when technical issues impact clinical services while minimizing disruption to patient care.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues related to data security, accessibility, and operational efficiency.

  • Acts as liaison between UHS Informatics staff, university IT staff, and vendors.

  • Coordinates testing and participates in implementing solutions collaboratively with clinical and technical stakeholders.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Serves as a resource for internal and external customers.

  • Prepares specifications for purchases of hardware and software upgrades.
    Provides direction and guidance to one or more team members as needed.

Documentation

  • Documents problems, troubleshooting procedures, and solutions for future reference and process improvement.

Professional Development

  • Participates in training and professional development sessions to maintain and expand technical and professional skills
